Police Address Social Media Post

The New Iberia Police Department (NIPD) is aware of a social media post circulating online claiming that individuals with guns were surrounding vehicles and attempting to steal vehicles at a local gas station.

At this time, NIPD has found no evidence to substantiate these claims. No reports have been made to support these allegations.

Officers spoke with the owner of the gas station that was tagged in the social media post. The owner is unaware of any such incidents occurring.

We encourage community members to remain aware of their surroundings and promptly report suspicious activity to law enforcement. We also urge the public to avoid sharing unverified information that may cause unnecessary concern within the community.

Re: Chief Todd D’Albor’s Funeral Services

On Thursday, August 6, 2026, the New Iberia Police Department’s offices will be closed to allow employees to attend Chief Todd D’Albor’s funeral.

From 6:00 AM until 6:00 PM, the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office will be taking over all calls for service within the city.

St. Peter St. will be closed from Jefferson St. to Center St., beginning at 10:30 AM on Thursday. All cross streets between Jefferson St. and Center St. will remain open; vehicle traffic will be allowed to travel north and south. This includes French St., Iberia St., Julia St., and Weeks St. No unauthorized vehicles will be allowed on St. Peter St.

The procession will begin at approximately 12:30 PM on Thursday. The procession will start at Evangeline Funeral Home (314 E. St. Peter St.) and travel down St. Peter St. to Prairie St., Prairie St. to Main St.

Members of the public wishing to honor Chief D’Albor’s legacy can line up on Main St. between Prairie Ave. and Corinne St. to show their support to Chief D’Albor’s family and the men and women of the New Iberia Police Department.

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the New Iberia Police Department announces the passing of Chief Todd D’Albor.

Chief D’Albor has dedicated more than 30 years of service to law enforcement, serving with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office, Saint Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, Saint Martinville Police Department, and Jennings Police Department.

In December 2017, Chief D’Albor was appointed as the first Chief of Police of the newly reestablished New Iberia Police Department, making a historic moment for our city. Chief D’Albor faithfully and proudly served with honor, integrity, and dedication until his passing.

Chief D’Albor was instrumental in rebuilding the New Iberia Police Department after it was dissolved in 2004. From purchasing the Department’s first ink pen to acquiring uniforms and units, Mayor Freddie DeCourt and Chief D’Albor worked side by side to build a Department from the ground up and establish a new vision for the citizens of New Iberia.

Throughout his distinguished career, Chief D’Albor earned the respect and admiration of colleagues, community members, public officials, and fellow law enforcement officers through his compassion, professionalism, and commitment.

Chief D’Albor was more than a leader; he was a mentor, friend, and servant of the community. His impact will be felt for generations. Chief D’Albor’s legacy will continue to inspire all who had the honor of knowing and working alongside him. He will forever remain a part of the New Iberia Police Department.

The men and women of the New Iberia Police Department extend their deepest condolences to the Chief’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. We ask the community to keep Chief D’Albor’s family in their thoughts and prayers.

Funeral arrangements will be announced as they become available.

Chief D’Albor will be honored with full law enforcement honors.

NEW IBERIA FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS PROUDLY REPRESENT OUR COMMUNITY

On Saturday, June 20, 2026, the New Iberia Fire and Police Departments teamed up to celebrate Fisher’s birthday at a benefit held at Mama’s Fried Chicken.

These dedicated professionals proudly represented their departments while showing their continued commitment to the community they serve. Their presence and support helped make the event special, demonstrating the strong bond between our first responders and the citizens of New Iberia.
