Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office The Sheriff is the Chief Law Enforcement officer of the parish. He is also the Ex-Officio Tax Collector for Iberia Parish. Keeper of the jail.

As Ex-Officio Tax Collector, the Sheriff is responsible for the collection and distribution of the ad valorem taxes assessed yearly against all property in Iberia Parish. Other responsibilities of the Sheriff include:

Maintain law enforcement patrols and investigations. Investigate crimes against people and property ]
Collection and distribution of court fines imposed by the 16th Judicial Distric

t Court. Collection of traffic fines imposed by our own deputies and the officers of the Louisiana State Police
Serve and return to the courts all subpoenas, citations, and other court orders; including seizure and sale of movable and immovable property at a public auction. Collection and distribution of all garnishments on wages for unpaid debts as ordered by the court. Provide bailiffs in the court rooms and security for the courts. PRESS RELEASE

On Saturday, September 5, 2026, at approximately 11:17 p.m., deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding.

During the stop, a passenger identified as Jeffery Marks, 33 years old, fled from the vehicle on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, Marks was taken into custody.

During the incident, deputies located suspected ma*****na, body armor, and an AR-15-style firearm. Further investigation revealed that Marks is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm and body armor.

Marks was arrested and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on the following charges:

La. R.S. 14:95.1 – Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
La. R.S. 14:95.3 – Unlawful Use/Possession of Body Armor
La. R.S. 40:966(C) – Simple Possession of Schedule I CDS
La. R.S. 14:108 – Resisting an Officer

The driver of the vehicle, Christopher Archangel, 38 years old, was also taken into custody. Archangel registered a .130 BAC and was arrested and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on the following charges:

La. R.S. 14:98 – Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated
La. R.S. 32:61 – Speeding

A 17-year-old juvenile involved in the incident was released on a summons for juvenile possession of a firearm and obstruction. Due to the individual’s age, no additional identifying information will be released.

This incident required a coordinated response from deputies throughout the shift. The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office recognizes the teamwork, communication, and professionalism demonstrated by all deputies involved. Their combined efforts were instrumental in safely taking those involved into custody and bringing the incident to a safe conclusion.

This matter remains under investigation by the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

SCAM ALERT

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office has received a report of a scam caller claiming to be “Lieutenant Walsh” with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Pretrial Division.

The caller contacted a local resident from a 318 area code and claimed that a family member had a $1,500 bond, but stated that if $950 was paid that day, the individual could be transferred into a program.

This is a scam.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office will never call and demand payment over the phone to reduce a bond, secure someone’s release, or place an individual into a pretrial program.

Scammers may use official-sounding titles, employee names, divisions, or information about a family member in an attempt to make the call appear legitimate.

If you receive a suspicious call:

* Do not provide personal or financial information.
* Do not send money or make payment over the phone.
* Hang up and contact the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office directly at 337-369-3711 to verify any information.

Please share this information with family and friends to help prevent others from becoming victims of this scam.

Update- KEVIN HAS BEEN FOUND SAFE

RUNAWAY JUVENILE

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Kevin Broussard, 14, of New Iberia.

Kevin was last seen on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, after getting off the bus in the area of Loreauville Road and Dauterive Lane and leaving on foot in an unknown direction.

He is approximately 4’5” tall, weighs 97 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. Kevin was last seen wearing khaki shorts, a black shirt, and carrying a black JanSport backpack.

Anyone who has seen Kevin or has information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office at 337-369-3711, Iberia Crime Stoppers, or submit a tip through the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office app.

Robbie, Ric, Thunder, Roxy, and Tia are trusted partners, valued members of our team, and an important part of the IPSO family.

Alongside their handlers, our K9s dedicate countless hours to training and preparing for the important work they do. Their intelligence, discipline, loyalty, and willingness to serve make them a tremendous asset to our agency and our community.

We also want to give a special shoutout to our K9 handlers! Their devotion to their K9s and the endless care they provide both on and off duty are highly respected and deeply appreciated. The time, trust, training, and responsibility that go into caring for a working K9 extend far beyond a normal shift.

MISSING PERSON

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Casin Maturin, 29, of New Iberia.

Casin was last seen around noon on Monday, August 31, 2026, in the area of Alleman’s Grocery Store. It is unknown whether he left the area on foot or in a vehicle.

Casin is approximately 5’9” tall, weighs 175 pounds, and has brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a light blue shirt and black shorts with white stripes.
