Say congrats to one of Habitat's volunteers, Maddie, who has found success in her musical pursuit recently. She has shared her talent at the ReStore multiple times singing and playing guitar at various customer appreciation days over the past several years and most recently this past Christmas. And she's also responsible for our ReStore being featured in a student film, "The Haunting of Prince Dom Pedro," which was recently released on YouTube. So despite our upcoming move, the current ReStore store will live on forever in the film. It's a quirky historical/supernatural/paranormal mystery/comedy about students in search of the man who led Brazil into gaining its independence from Portugal. Some corners of the Habitat ReStore are looking a little sparse in preparation for our move, but we still have lots of deals on great merchandise, and we are still taking donations of gently used housewares, furniture and DIY materials. Open at 225 Freeport St. in New Ken from 10 am to 4pm Tuesdays through Saturdays. See you soon!

Allegheny Valley Habitat for Humanity’s mission is finding new homes for others, but now we’re getting our own new home! Next month, our ReStore will open in downtown New Kensington bringing you the home goods and DIY materials you’ve been getting from our ReStore in Parnassus. We’ll be at 912 Fifth Ave. near the corner of Ninth Street, between Fifth and Barnes where Klingensmith’s used to be. If you see our volunteers and staff inside working to get the space ready, be sure to wave hi! Watch this space and our current ReStore at 225 Freeport Street, New Ken, for specific move dates. We’re still accepting donations at the Parnassus store for now, 10am to 4pm Tuesdays through Saturdays. Hope to serve you soon.
