Foster Grandparent Program

Foster Grandparent Program Note: FGP is NOT associated with foster care. Foster Grandparents are role models, mentors, and friends to children in need.

The Foster Grandparent Program of Southwestern Pennsylvania places volunteers age 55 and older in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, and Washington Counties to serve as mentors to at-risk youth. The program provides a way for volunteers age 55 and over to stay active by serving children and youth in their communities. Volunteers serve at local noon profit organizations that:
-- Want to he

lp, guide, and assist children to be their best self
-- Help children academically, emotionally and/or socially
-- Provide one-on-one attention to help children sheriff's personal goals
-- Mentor children birth to 21 years of age

All placements are in a supervised setting in the community such as schools, head start and early head start classrooms, daycare and child development centers and after school programs. All you need to join is the ability to give the kind of comfort and love that sets a child on the path toward a successful future. If you’re 55 or older and want to share your experience and compassion, you have what it takes to be a Foster Grandparent.
