It's the final week of Building Safety Month and creating a truly safe community is the goal!

The New Kent County Building Development Division staff we featured in Week 2 of Building Safety Month, who are also pictured here, can use their expertise, vigilance and commitment keep the places where we live, work and gather safe.

ICYMI at this month's Board of Supervisors work session on Tuesday morning, Chairman Ron Stiers asked about Interstate 64 photo enforcement revenue.

Staff told the Board that approximately $6.87 million has been collected to date and a June public hearing will be held to designate the use of these funds. Staff said restrictions of the use of these funds will begin July 1, at which time photo enforcement revenue can only be used for transportation or traffic enforcement.

Also at the May 26 work session, the Board approved the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 budgets and fees.
