Lotta truth to this one.
TO THAT-
SURVIVING THE SHOT TRAINING ON JUNE 24th at our training compound in New Lex. See the flyer and see you there!
Police officers train for roughly 3% of the time to handle 97% of the actual work we do.
Meanwhile, the military trains 97% of the time to execute 3% of real-world operations.
That ratio should tell us everything.
Street cops are expected to master crisis intervention, de-escalation, traffic stops, domestic calls, mental health crises, and active threats — often with minimal ongoing training once they’re out of the academy. We’re thrown into high-stakes situations daily with far less preparation time than our military brothers and sisters.
This isn’t sustainable.
If we want better outcomes, fewer use-of-force incidents, and stronger communities, we need to flip the script. More realistic, scenario-based training. More repetition. More investment in continuous professional development.
The same principle applies to your personal life as a cop.
Most officers spend almost zero time training on their finances — yet money problems cause more long-term damage than many street threats. Financial anxiety rides with you every shift.
Train like the military in your money life: prepare relentlessly for the fight that’s coming.
Start building your financial readiness today. Your future self (and your family) will thank you.
What do you think — should police academies and departments dramatically increase training hours?
