On September 2, 2026, leaders from all 88 Ohio counties came together with one shared purpose: creating brighter futures for Ohio’s children and families.

The Ohio Department of Children & Youth Kids Summit was a powerful reminder that meaningful change happens when we unite around a common vision. We were inspired by remarks from Governor Mike DeWine, First Lady Fran DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, former Buckeye Maurice Clarett, and DCY Director Kara Wente, each reinforcing the importance of investing in our children today to strengthen Ohio’s tomorrow.

Throughout the summit, counties collaborated to develop action plans centered on the Ohio Department of Children & Youth’s strategic goals—sharing ideas, building partnerships, and reaffirming our commitment to improving outcomes for every child, every family, and every community.

Our team was proud to represent Perry County in this statewide effort and look forward to turning conversations into impact.

Perry County was represented by:
Karen Chennells, FCFC Coordinator
Amy Frame, Perry JFS Director, FCFC Chair
Caley Boyden, Perry County Board Of Developmental Disabilities, Superintendent, FCFC Vice Chair
Chase Bennett, Perry County Commissioner
Ashley Reed, PCBDD, Childrens Program Director
Wendy Winegardner, PCJFS, Deputy Director of Protective Services
Ben Avery, Perry County Health Department, Health Commissioner
Corrine Braglin, Perry Behavioral Health Choices, Director
Carolyn Carnes, Prosecutor’s Office, Assistant Prosecutor
