A grade doesn't tell the whole story.

Sometimes the students who make the biggest impact are the ones who consistently show kindness, work hard when no one is watching, help others without being asked, overcome obstacles, and make our campus a better place simply by being themselves.

Each year, our teachers and staff have the opportunity to select the student or students who have made the greatest impact on them during the school year. These selections represent character, perseverance, leadership, growth, and the positive relationships that make West Rusk High School special.

West Rusk High School is excited to welcome Wayne Borden as our new Assistant Principal.

Mr. Borden brings nearly 20 years of experience in education, coaching, and school leadership. He previously served as Secondary Principal at Leverett’s Chapel ISD and has taught and coached at Sabine, Marshall, New Summerfield, and Nacogdoches High Schools.

He earned his Master’s in Educational Leadership from The University of Texas at Tyler and has served in many leadership roles throughout his career, including campus behavior coordinator, mentor, Interim Athletic Director, and strategic planner. Before entering education, he proudly served in the United States Navy in Aviation Logistics.

Mr. Borden and his wife, Renee, are high school sweethearts and have been married 27 years. They have two sons, Darrin and Kanyon.

Please help us give Mr. Borden a warm Raider welcome. We are excited to have him join the West Rusk family.

Our offices are open for the summer Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Please note we will be closed June 29 through July 3 for the July 4th holiday.

HELP SEND OUR 7 ON 7 TEAMS TO STATE!

Our teams have qualified for the State 7 on 7 Tournament in College Station on June 26-28, and we need your support!

Per UIL rules, the school cannot transport or pay expenses for the boys, so we are asking for donations to help cover travel and tournament costs.

Any donation is appreciated. Several of the boys are also available for work opportunities to help raise money for the trip.

If you would like to donate or have jobs available, please reach out.

Well, Raiders… we made it.

The backpacks are empty, the grades are submitted, diplomas handed out and teachers everywhere are turning off their alarm clocks.

School is officially out for the summer.
