City of New London Animal Control Department This is the official page for the City of New London's Animal Control Department. We are a municipal Animal Control facility.

This page is maintained by an employee of the Department, and shall adhere to the City's Social Media policy. We have 2 full-time officers, and cover emergency after-hour calls. Please remember that our officers are not at the shelter for their entire shift. We highly recommend calling the office and setting up an appointment to view our adoptable animals. This helps make sure an Officer will be a

vailable. We handle over 1,500 calls a year, ranging from roaming dogs to cruelty investigations, from rabies exposure cases to injured animals. Our days are highly unpredictable, and no two days are ever the same. Please be patient with our officers if you are waiting for a call back.

Do you love polydactyl cats? Meet Beth and Amy. Meg has boring standard toes. They are 14 weeks old. They have had their first feline distemper vaccine, as well as rabies and are microchipped. Their $50 adoption fee includes a voucher that provides a discount on spaying and their next vaccine. Kermit came to us after his mom was hospitalized, and she was no longer able to care for him. He is an adult male who has lived by himself, and will need to go home to a cage, as he came in here without one. Wafer is a male guinea pig looking for a new home after his family was deployed. He has a cage to go with him. He's about 15 months old, loves fresh veggies, and is learning to like new people. On Saturday 8/22/26, just prior to 2000 hrs, a domestic short hair female cat,white with distinct markings , was struck by a vehicle in the area of Hislop St and Fitch. The cat did not survive their injuries. The cat was not microchipped. If this is your cat, please call New London Animal Control at 860-447-5231.
