❤️💙❤️💙A huge THANK YOU to our local law enforcement and the incredible staff at North Stanly High School for their work today to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

The safety of Comet Nation is always our utmost priority, and today was a powerful example of the lengths our school, district, and community partners will go to in order to keep our students safe.

Stanly County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Threat at North Stanly High School

ALBEMARLE, NC — On September 1, 2026, the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office responded to North Stanly High School following reports of a threat of violence.
Upon arrival, deputies and investigators conducted a thorough assessment of the campus. No active threat or danger to students and staff was located.
Deputies immediately initiated an investigation to determine the origin of the report. Through the course of the investigation, investigators identified a juvenile as the source of the threat. The Stanly County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking formal charges through the juvenile justice system.
Sheriff Jeff Crisco emphasized:

"Any act or threat made against a school in Stanly County will result in charges and the full prosecution of the law. The safety of our students, educators, and community remains our absolute highest priority, and we will exhaust all resources to hold individuals accountable for making threats."

The Stanly County Sheriff's Office encourages students, parents, and community members to report any suspicious activity or threats to law enforcement immediately.

The secure perimeter at North Stanly High School has been lifted. The threat to campus remains unsubstantiated. We appreciate your patience, cooperation, and understanding as we provided law enforcement the time necessary to thoroughly clear the building and ensure the safety of everyone on campus.
Students and staff are safe and will resume a normal schedule at this time. Parents and guardians who need to check out a student early must come to the school and verify their identification with office staff. We will not permit early checkouts by phone or email.

All athletic practices and games scheduled to take place at North Stanly High School today have been cancelled out of precaution.

Due to an unsubstantiated threat, North Stanly High School is currently under a secure perimeter as a precaution. Law enforcement is on campus and actively responding to the situation.

For the safety of students and staff and to allow law enforcement to address the situation, parents and guardians are asked not to come to the school at this time.

We will provide additional information as it becomes available. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff.
