📚✏️ WHY A BACK-TO-SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE? ✏️📚

The Ralls County Health Department collects school supplies and monetary donations to help provide FREE school supplies to local students and families in our community!

We understand that many families are facing financial struggles, and the cost of school supplies can place an added burden on households already trying to make ends meet. Our goal is to help ease that stress and ensure every child starts the school year prepared and confident. ❤️

Thanks to the generosity of our community:
🎒 We provided 63 bags of school supplies for the 2024–2025 school year
🎒 We provided 47 bags of school supplies for the 2025–2026 school year

It is important to us to continue supporting the families and children in our community through a school supply event, and we will need your help to make it possible again this year!

🖍️ Needed items include:
• Backpacks
• Notebooks & folders
• Pencils, pens & crayons
• Glue sticks & scissors
• Markers & colored pencils
• Loose leaf paper
• Hand sanitizer & tissues
• And other classroom essentials!

💵 Monetary donations are also welcome and will be used to purchase additional school supplies for students in need.

This year we will be collecting School Supplies during the months of June and July! Donations of school supplies or monetary donations may be dropped off at our office Monday-Thursday from 8am-5pm.

Together, we can help local students start the school year ready to learn and succeed. Thank you for continuing to support the children and families of Ralls County! 🍎

🎉 Why, How, What – New London Park Days 🎉

The Ralls County Health Department loves participating in New London Park Days because we enjoy supporting our community, local events, and the many organizations and agencies that make our area special.

This event gives us the opportunity to connect with community members, share information about the services we provide, and offer educational resources that help keep our community healthy and informed.

So how do we do that?
We set up a booth at New London Park Days almost every year! (We missed last year because we were moving into our new location.) At our booth, you can:

✔️ Learn about the services we offer
✔️ Get helpful health education information
✔️ Ask questions and speak with our staff
✔️ Pick up a few goodies while you’re there!

What can you do?
Come out and support New London Park Days on June 5–6, 2026, and be sure to stop by and see us on Saturday, June 6! Meet some of our employees, ask questions, and learn more about the services your local health department offers.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, June 6th! 😊

💉 IMMUNIZATIONS—keeping you one step ahead of preventable disease!

Have you ever heard a mother speak up for vaccines after losing her child to a disease that could have been prevented? Or heard a former athlete share how meningitis changed their life in what felt like overnight? These are real stories.

When we understand what preventable diseases can take from people—the fear, the hospital stays, the missed moments, and families holding on to hope—it reminds us why making vaccines easy to access is so important.

DID YOU KNOW the health department helps keep vaccines safe? We also work with a vaccine registry to track which vaccines people have received, giving healthcare providers quick and accurate access to that information.

For many people, vaccines are more than a medical service. They mean safety, stability, and the chance to live life without the worry of preventable disease. For others, feelings about vaccines may not be so simple.

That’s why we take time to listen. We want each person to feel respected, heard, and supported.

Sometimes, stories about vaccine risks can cause fear or uncertainty. How do we handle those situations? We provide clear, fact-based information and take time to listen and answer questions. We support people in making confident decisions by giving them the time, space, and information they need.

WE VALUE OUR COMMUNITY AND WOULD LOVE YOUR HELP!

Learn how to spot vaccine misinformation and understand the facts so you can make informed choices for yourself and your family. Encourage others to reach out when they have concerns. Join us in making sure vaccines are available to everyone—regardless of income or social status—and easy to access.

💡 Have an idea for an immunization clinic? Maybe at your workplace, a church event, or another location in the community.

We would love to hear from you—email your ideas to [email protected]

Hello, I’m Eric Murfin, and I’m proud to serve our community through the CCHC Program at the Ralls County Health Department.

The Child Care Health Consultation (CCHC) Program is a partnership between the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and local public health agencies. Our mission is simple: to help ensure children from newborn through kindergarten age are cared for in the safest and healthiest environments possible.

I strongly believe that children develop significantly in their early years, and that building a strong foundation can lead to healthy habits that last a lifetime. As a father of four, I place the needs of children and families in our community at the highest priority.

What I enjoy most about this program is the opportunity to support both child care providers and families. Whether it’s providing health and safety consultations, offering training opportunities, or promoting healthy habits for children, every interaction is a chance to make a positive impact on a child’s future.

I encourage daycare providers throughout our community to partner with the CCHC Program to better support the children in their care. Together, we can continue creating safe, healthy, and supportive environments where children can grow, learn, and thrive.

Thank you to all the child care providers, families, and community partners who work every day to support the health and well-being of our youngest community members.
