The New Madrid County Ambulance District is proud to partner with cities, fire departments, churches, businesses, and organizations throughout our county to help improve emergency preparedness and public safety for everyone we serve.

New Madrid County Ambulance District works directly with vendors and uses our purchasing relationships to help provide AEDs and advanced bleeding control kits at our at-cost wholesale pricing. This allows local agencies and organizations to obtain life-saving equipment at significantly reduced pricing while still receiving high-quality, dependable equipment.

Recently, we partnered with the Portageville Police Department to help them secure emergency equipment at these reduced prices. We have also partnered with local churches as part of our continued effort to expand access to life-saving emergency equipment throughout our communities.

We are proud to help save our local cities, police departments, fire departments, churches, businesses, and organizations money in the process while continuing to support the highest level of emergency care and preparedness possible throughout New Madrid County.

The goal is to simply place more life-saving equipment into the hands of people who may be first on scene during an emergency. Immediate access to bleeding control supplies and AEDs saves lives.

Any city, fire department, church, business, school, or organization interested in participating or receiving pricing information is encouraged to contact Patrick Garrison, Director of the New Madrid County Ambulance District, at 573-748-5571.

Working together, we can continue building a safer, stronger, and better prepared New Madrid County.

This week, New Madrid County Ambulance District recognizes and honors our dispatchers during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

Our dispatchers are the calm voice in critical moments, the link between the public and emergency responders, and an essential part of every call for service. Their professionalism, steady presence, and commitment to this community do not go unnoticed.

We appreciate their service and thank them for all they do for New Madrid County.

Tonight, the people of New Madrid County showed up and made a decision about the future of emergency medical care in our community, and you spoke loud and clear.

This was not about politics. This was about making sure when someone calls 911, help is coming fast, equipped, and ready.

To those who supported this measure, thank you. You did not just vote for a tax. You voted for faster response times, better equipment, and keeping highly trained paramedics right here at home.

To those who had concerns or voted no, we hear you. Nobody likes taxes. But the reality is simple. EMS cannot survive on insurance reimbursements alone. This vote ensures we can continue to provide life saving care to every single person who needs it, regardless of their ability to pay.

We are committed to being good stewards of your trust. Every dollar will go toward strengthening your ambulance service and protecting this county for years to come.

Tonight is a win for public safety.

Tonight is a win for New Madrid County.

What does this sales tax actually mean for your household?

We’ve heard a lot of questions about how this would impact families, and we want to break it down in a simple, practical way.

The proposed ambulance sales tax applies to purchases made in New Madrid County, including everyday items like groceries and other consumable goods.

For context, the average family of four in the United States spends roughly $10,000-$12,000 per year on groceries.

At a one-cent increase per $100 spent (1%), that equals:

➡️ About $100-$120 per year
➡️ Around $2-$2.30 per week

That’s roughly the cost of a cup of coffee each week.

What does that support?

Emergency medical services that are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including:

• Paramedics and EMTs ready to respond
• Ambulances and life-saving equipment
• Coverage across 697 square miles of New Madrid County
• Service for thousands of emergency calls each year

No one ever plans for the day they might need an ambulance. But when that moment comes, seconds matter.

Our goal is simply to ensure that when someone in our community calls 911, help is there.

We encourage everyone to stay informed and participate in the upcoming election on Tuesday, April 7th.
