On Monday, April 13 at approximately 1:10 pm Jefferson County E-911 received call of a
plane crash on Burchell Rd in New Market. Deputies along with New Market Fire & Rescue, Jefferson County EMS & EMA responded to the scene and discovered a small plane that had crashed into a field. Firefighters confirmed two persons on board the aircraft were deceased. Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division are on scene awaiting investigators from the NTSB & FAA

Easter Parade and Egg Hunt
On behalf of New Market Fire and Rescue Team, I would like to invite your agency to our 2026 Easter parade. It will be held on Saturday April 04 with lineup beginning at 4:30pm and the parade starting at 5:00 pm. Rain or Shine parade will take place. The route will start at Lost Creek Golf Course, travel down Old AJ Highway and it will end at the New Market Fire Department. In total it is about 1.2 miles(if any members walk). The Grand Marshal will be WATE news anchor Lori Tucker. Emergency vehicles will be lining up in front of the parade. We appreciate your consideration and hope to see you there! NMVFD Easter Parade and Egg Hunt

The New Market Volunteer Fire Department and rescue Team is having their 15th Annual Easter Parade and Egg Hunt to beheld on Saturday April 04, 2026. The event will kick off with a parade which will line up on Old AJ Highway in New Market at the Old Lost Creek Golf Course at 4:00 pm and will begin at 5:00 pm, ending at New Market Fire Department with an Easter Egg Hunt to follow with over 10,000 eggs with cash prizes to the lucky winner. Lori Tucker with WATE 6 will be Grand Marshal she will be retiring from the anchor desk later on this year. If anyone would like to help sponsor, they can by getting in touch with me at 865-740-7928?
