India - Star of the East - Travelogue

Join us as Pete Walker & Caroline Neubauer share their 2025 trip to eastern India to visit a few local tribes which are striving to maintain their cultural identities in this time of rapid change for all cultures. In the midst of industrialization and use of the internet and AI these tribes are still using sustainable resources to build homes from clay they have harvested on their own property. They are supporting families by using bamboo, grasses and clay to make items to sell at local and international markets. Pete & Caroline learned about local fishermen, sugar processing, and how local cultures are slowly being invaded by the outer world. The small tour group of three, led by Suda, the Indian tour guide, were privileged to visit places seldom visited by those from outside the tribal areas. This free presentation is open to all ages and light refreshments will be served. As a courtesy to presenters, please arrive on time. For more information, contact the library at [email protected] or (208) 347-3147.

Join Us Today for Idaho DINOSAURS!!! – Wednesday, October 1st from 2:00 to 4:00pm - Idaho Museum of Natural History will bring the wonders of Idaho’s prehistoric past directly to New Meadows! The IMNH Mobile Museum is a grant-funded project, from the David B Jones Foundation. The MV Library is proud to be a recipient of this amazing opportunity and invites all of Meadows Valley to come and enjoy this exciting educational experience with us.
