Starting off our year in January Dr. Roser led a team of 25 volunteers to Santa Cruz, Bolivia. During the week-long trip, the team screened 70 patients and were able to perform 56 cleft lip and palate surgeries. Along with the team Ysabella Hincapié-Gara, a speech-pathologist provided services to 114 patients. Ysabella trained 4 students to assess and treat hypernasality in patients who had undergone cleft lip and palate surgery. Healing The Children Northeast is so thankful for the continued efforts from our volunteers that make this possible.

Congratulations to Dr. Steven M. Roser, DMD, MD, FACS, on receiving the International Surgical Award in recognition of his commitment to caring for people in need internationally. Dr. Roser first joined our Medical Teams Abroad program on a trip to Colombia in 1992. Since then, his dedication to helping others has inspired him to complete thirty-nine trips with HTCNE.

We would like to thank everyone who was able to join us for our 21st Annual Golf Outing, held on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026, at Waccabuc Country Club, in Waccabuc, New York. ⛳

This year we were honored to recognize Doctor Maurine Heard, Anesthesiologist, for her incredible dedication to Healing the Children Northeast. Dr. Heard has travelled with HTCNE on 7 missions to Colombia, Peru and Tanzania, providing compassionate medical care to children in need since 2019.

We were also proud to honor HTCNE Director Missy Law for her outstanding service, leadership, and guidance since 1985. For more than four decades, Missy has been a driving force behind our mission, helping countless children and families receive medical care. Her unwavering commitment and dedication has made immeasurable differences in the lives of so many.

Thank you to all our golfers, donors, sponsors, and volunteers for making this another successful year. The funds raised at this annual event allow us to continue our mission in helping us change lives- one child at a time ❤️

Each year, HTCNE’s Domestic Kids Program proudly offers a Medical Career Scholarship to New Milford High School seniors pursuing careers in healthcare.

On May 29, Board Member Steve Nargiso presented the three 2026 Scholarships to:
💙 Kendall Evans- Sacred Heart University, Neuroscience & Physician Assistant Dual Degree Program
💙 Sarah Da Silva- Western Connecticut State University, nursing
💙 Xenia Rivera- Misericordia University, Nursing

We are thrilled to welcome two new HTCNE office staff!

Meghan Clark is proud to be part of the HTCNE team as an Administrative Assistant. Inspired by the organization’s mission of bringing hope and medical care to children in need, she is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to work that makes a real impact every day.

Fiona Paredes has been volunteering with HTCNE since 2018 on our Ica Peru trips. She has recently graduated with her Business Administration degree and has been interning with us throughout this summer. Her passion has driven her to join our staff as an Administrative Associate!

When 8 of our volunteers went to Machu Picchu their guide asked them to make this humorous video and nobody knew why, until a few days later they received this video from him! Our hearts are warmed by the recognition of the positive impact we leave on the communities we seek to help.

Our Medial Team led by Dr. Evan Ransom recently returned from Ica, Peru! A team of 35 volunteers, including surgeons, anesthesia, OR, PACU and Speech & Language Pathology were in Ica for a week. They screened 84 patients and performed 52 cleft lip and palate surgeries for children in need. Many thanks to our large team of volunteers and to Jose Paredes, our gracious host!
