Committee Goals:

Examine and Identify various housing options for all ages and income levels while maintaining community character and considering fiscal impacts. Ensure that any future or existing affordable/workforce housing options align with the community's diversity and equity goals. Facilitate a network of community members, municipal leaders, and nonprofit and for-profit developers to increase affordable and workforce housing proactively. Create a constituency of advocates and experts to help provide support and guidance to municipal officials, interested developers, and community members on affordable and workforce housing development.

"Welcome Home, Neighbor" is a program launched by Litchfield, Fairfield, and New London counties to assist landlords in renting to homeless individuals. It offers funds for property damage, resolves tenant-landlord issues, and maintains an apartment database. The program aims to help people quickly move out of shelters and into homes in a challenging rental market. This is one of many innovative strategies used in Connecticut to help those in need.
