On June 11, members of Battalion 9 participated in a joint training session with the NMFD Hazmat Team, focusing on Mass Decontamination and Technical Decontamination procedures. The session is part of an ongoing multi‑month preparedness effort in advance of the FIFA World Championship match on July 19th, where Battalion 9 will serve as part of a large, multi‑agency task force.
Crews have been engaged in extensive preparation for months, including classroom instruction, scenario‑based drills, and repeated equipment inspections to ensure operational readiness. Every firefighter assigned to the task force has trained to understand their specific role within the coordinated response structure.
“These men and women have dedicated countless hours to ensuring they are ready for any situation,” the department stated. “Their commitment to training, safety, and professionalism ensures that, in the unlikely event their services are needed, they will respond without hesitation.”
The multi‑agency task force will be on standby throughout the championship event to support public safety operations and provide rapid response capabilities if required.
Great job to all personnel involved for their continued dedication and excellence
