Our mission is to provide funding to New Milford children who have a financial need so that they are able to participate in school-related or after-school sports, arts, music, and educational programs. OUR METHOD
MVP SOS volunteers collaborate with the New Milford school administration, social workers, guidance counselors, Social Services, PTO, and local civic groups to promote our mission and en
courage parents to apply for funding. Parents fill out a one-page application outlining the program their child wants to join, the associated costs, and proof of financial need. The MVP SOS board reviews and votes on each application, considering any extracurricular activity a child is interested in. If approved, the registration costs are paid directly to the program organization. Some local organizations support our mission by covering 50% of the registration fees. Our 50/50 partners include New Milford sports organizations, and dance and art businesses. OUR IMPACT
Given the current economic climate, many New Milford parents face financial constraints, limiting the extracurricular activities available at no cost. MVP SOS has seen a rise in applications as families struggle to afford registration fees. We help parents maintain continuity for their children in local teams or programs and provide opportunities previously deemed unaffordable. Since 2004, we've raised over $400,000, with 90+% going directly to families and children in need, thanks to our 100% volunteer team. We've supported nearly 3,000 New Milford children, aged 5 to 17, in activities like soccer, art classes, baseball, piano lessons, band trips, gymnastics, and more. MVP SOS funds over 80 local organizations to cover registration fees, ensuring all children can participate regardless of financial status. OUR NEED
MVP SOS needs your support to continue our impactful work. For the first time, our funding for children’s programs exceeds our donations. While we are dedicated to helping as many children as possible, we need your assistance to sustain our mission. To donate, please contact MVP SOS and see how your generosity benefits the community and your business. On average, MVP SOS returns 90+ cents of every dollar donated back to the community. We rely on collective help and donations for New Milford to be a place where all children can participate, regardless of income. MVP SOS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and all donations are tax-deductible.
