Easy money for one reserve weekend a month....let's MATH FOR MARINES:

24 days of drill. Jr. Enlisted get roughly $150 per day (before taxes). 24 X 150 = $3600.

Most prior active duty Marines have completed 5 years already, leaving 15 more for a retirement. 15 X 3600 = $54000.

Add whatever VA disability rating you get, the annual training periods, opportunities to go on active orders, promotions, inflation, savings on healthcare insurance, military discounts, bonuses, and you're clearing way more that 54k by the time you retire. Way more!
