You may have feared from the empty post that the library got blown away in Hurricane Ida. Don’t worry! She (yes, I think the library is a she!) was just buried deep in the garage behind everything else we didn’t want to blow away☺️

Come by and show her some love by taking some books and seeds! No need to leave any…I’ve got plenty in back stock.

What a sweet and thoughtful donation to the little free seed library today! I will leave them as-is in the library for now. Please only take what you will plant as they are not bagged up in small batches yet.

The copy of the handwritten note titled The Three Sisters reads, “From the earliest of times our pioneer ancestors learned the three sisters method of farming from the American Indians. The three sisters consists of corn, beans and squash. The corn was planted first and when it was waist high the beans were planted at the base of the corn. As the vines grew they would wind their way up the corn stalks. The squash and pumpkins were planted throughout the field, and the vines large leaves shaded the ground which kept weeds from growing and helped keep moisture in the soil.”

Ummmm, I may have an endless supply of collard seeds to put in the library😁
