Today, we honor the generations of workers and unions who fought tirelessly to secure rights we often take for granted.

As we celebrate Labor Day, we also recognize that the fight for workers’ rights continues. From fair pay and family leave to workplace equity and safety, building a stronger future for working people requires all of us to stay engaged and informed.

To all the workers across New Jersey and beyond, thank you for your hard work, dedication, and contributions that keep our communities moving!

Congratulations to our September Young Dem of the Month, Karla Lopez-Rosa!

Karla has built her work around public service, advocacy, and supporting immigrant communities across New Jersey. Through her work in government and Democratic politics, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to serving her community and advocating for families across our state.

Today, Karla serves in the Office of Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman as a Senior Constituent Service Representative, Lead Field Representative, and Internship Coordinator. In her role, she supports community outreach and events across New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District and assists with rapid-response efforts involving ICE detention cases and resources for impacted families.

Karla also coordinates the Congresswoman’s Advisory Council on Immigration Reform (ACIR), working alongside advocacy and community organizations to address issues impacting immigrant communities. Her dedication to this work reflects her long-term goal of becoming an immigration attorney and continuing to advocate for immigrant families.

Outside of her work in Congress, Karla remains deeply involved in her hometown of Trenton, where she serves as a member of the Mercer County Democratic Committee and Recording Secretary of the Trenton Democratic Municipal Committee. She is also a graduate of Rider University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with double minors in Homeland Security Policy and Spanish, and was a member of the New Jersey Governor’s Hispanic Fellows Class of 2022.
