Operation Golden Eagle started nearly a decade ago as a partnership between the New Orleans Police Department and Louisiana State Police. This initiative has grown into a strong multi-agency effort. Today, our local, state, and federal partners continue working together toward one shared mission, making our communities safer.

During the meeting, Sheriff Michelle M. Woodfork thanked all of the partner agencies involved, especially the men and women on the ground doing the work each day.

“Golden Eagle is a special operation that I’ve watched grow over the years. It’s one of the best law enforcement operations in the country. It takes more than collaboration it takes coordination.”

The results speak to what can be accomplished when agencies work together with a shared commitment to public safety.

100 Days of Progress, Accountability, and A Clear Direction

Yesterday, Sheriff Michelle M. Woodfork marked her first 100 days in office, highlighting the progress made across the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, the challenges that remain, and the work ahead.

From strengthening security and addressing facility needs to reinforcing accountability throughout the agency, Sheriff Woodfork emphasized a commitment to building a safer, stronger and more responsive OPSO.

The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office was proud to participate in the Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office - Coffee on Your Corner (COYC) event, where residents had the opportunity to engage directly with local leaders about emergency preparedness as we all watch developments in the Gulf.

Sheriff Michelle M. Woodfork and Chief Christopher Goodly shared information about the OPSO’s hurricane plans, - including the measures in place to protect those in our custody and our staff, as well as continued operations of the Sheriff’s Office during severe weather events.

As hurricane season continues, proactive planning and public safety remain our top priorities. We are closely monitoring Tropical Storm Bertha and taking every precaution necessary.

🎓 Mr. Mekhai Pierce accepted his high school diploma during a ceremony at the last week.

Graduation at Travis Hill NOLA is about so much more than receiving a diploma. It’s a celebration of perseverance, growth, and the courage to keep going despite life’s challenges.

As one speaker shared, “The truth of the matter is, it’s not really how we see you. It’s how you see it.”

That belief is at the heart of everything we do.

Today, we celebrate Mekhai not just for earning his diploma, but for choosing a new path and proving what is possible through hard work, resilience, and determination.
