The New Orleans Fire Department had a fantastic time visiting students at Edward Hynes Charter School โ€“ Lakeview!

Firefighters connected with students, shared fire safety tips, and gave a behind-the-scenes look at the tools and teamwork that help keep our city safe. From hands-on demonstrations to great conversations, the visit focused on learning, curiosity, and community.

Weโ€™re always proud to engage with our youngest New Orleaniansโ€”future leaders, future first responders, and future change-makers. ๐Ÿš’โœจ

๐Ÿš’โœจ Inspiring the next generation of leaders!

Today, the New Orleans Fire Department joined the Carl Holmes Executive Development Institute (EDI) and the Black Association of New Orleans Firefighters (BANOFF) for the 2nd Annual Carl Holmes EDI Youth Initiative at Dillard University.

Young women from Young Ladies of NOLA and Chosen Vessel Dance School explored the fire service through hands-on demonstrations, interactive learning sessions, and conversations with fire service professionals. They also had the opportunity to meet representatives from the New Orleans Firemen's Federal Credit Union, learning about additional community resources and support systems.

NOFD Superintendent Roman Nelson, firefighters, and additional members of the New Orleans Fire Department engaged with the young women throughout the day, sharing their experiences, answering questions, and encouraging them to pursue leadership opportunities and careers in public safety.

By connecting young women with role models in the fire service, this initiative helps foster confidence, curiosity, and leadership while opening doors to future career opportunities.

The NOFD remains committed to investing in our youth and building the next generation of leaders in public safety. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Today, the New Orleans Fire Department joined fellow public safety partners for the annual โ€œBlessing of the Fleetโ€ ceremony at the NOPD Special Operations Division (SOD) Complex.

Hosted through the New Orleans Police & Justice Foundation and presided over by Archbishop James Checchio, the ceremony included blessings for the emergency vehicles used during rescues and emergencies, as well as the first responders who operate them in service to the community.

The ceremony also featured remarks from public safety partners, including Superintendent Roman Nelson.

The NOFD remains proud to stand alongside our public safety partners as we prepare for the months ahead and remain ready to serve our residents.
