Hewlett-Packard Enterprise installed a new High Performance Computing system at the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO) dubbed the “Warfighter Advanced Decision Engine” or “W.A.D.E.” that will power NAVOCEANO’s 4D Ocean Cube.

According to the Commanding Officer, Capt. Douglas Pearman, the Warrior-Scholars of NAVOCEANO will use the 4D Ocean Cube to provide the fleet with continuously updating variable resolution analysis and predictions in a compute environment robust enough for the evaluation of oceanographic effects on the digital twins of all naval platforms. This will fundamentally alter our approach to planning in the maritime domain.

NAVOCEANO’s Commanding Officer, Capt. Douglas Pearman, hosted a Coffee and Conversations with the Commanding Officer event in the Dr. Walter H. Munk Oceanographic Library, May 20.

Pearman was joined by NAVOCEANO’s Executive Officer, Capt. Jeffrey Portell and NAVOCEANO’s Chief Scientist, Martin Doody.

The popular Coffee and Conversations with the Commanding Officer events are an open forum that allows NAVOCEANO personnel to interact with command leadership and ask questions or discuss concerns they might have in a relaxed environment.
