Thank You neighbors and friends across New Orleans for voting YES for our library! Renewing the library millage means stable funding for the library for years to come. It could only happen because folks from all across the City came together to campaign for the future of the library.

Thanks to our donors who made it happen and our campaign volunteers who did the hard, fun work of getting out the vote! It's time to write the next chapter for our library and our wonderful city.

New Orleans voters overwhelmingly voted Yes to renew the city's public library millage on Saturday, December 11, 2021, preserving the library's funding structure for the next two decades.

✅Improve literacy & job readiness programs
✅Library can provide new mobile services
✅Library is on track for a BRIGHT future!

Tomorrow is Election Day! Remember to vote

"For the library, a renewal failure would result in a devastating 54 percent budget cut, causing sweeping service reductions that could include branch closures and layoffs. A successful renewal would allow the library to move forward with its 10-year strategic plan, which includes more funding for childhood and adult literacy programs, digital literacy training, workforce readiness, and 'reimagining' physical Library buildings to become better community assets."

If voters shoot down the tax renewals, the Library would lose more than half of its annual budget, and the city would lose millions of dollars for affordable housing initiatives.

It's unanimous! All major publications in New Orleans endorsed , because fully funded libraries benefit everyone. A vote "yes" means:

OPSB Member Olin Parker and his pup Ruthie are supporting 📚💥✔️

Asked about why he’s supporting the library millage renewal, Olin said that “The library provides critical support and services for all kids in Orleans Parish. Doesn’t matter if they go to public school or private school. It’s just such a great resource.”

Katie Baudouin Orleans Parish School Board - District 5 and her two girls Katherine & Marie were at the Children’s Resource Center Library! Public education and libraries go hand in hand🤝, providing an enriching environment outside the classroom for generations!📚🌳

Not only does the CRC have DIY projects and activities for kids, but they also house children’s books written in French🇫🇷 and Spanish🇪🇸! Voting means that immersion students like Katherine and Marie can build upon their language skills at home for another 20 years. Our children are worth the investment!

District A Councilmember Joe Giarrusso was at the Mid-City Library! 📚⭐

"What do I love most about libraries? It's the ultimate resource center. They have sections for kids who can read. There's a teenage section so they can check out their own things, and there's a tech lab as well for adults who need to work. Where else can you get that kind of enrichment in one place?"
