The early morning bell sounded for members of JPFD this morning. Firefighters battled a 2 alarm residential structure fire in the 4500 block of Transcontinental Blvd. The home owner and family safely evacuated this home prior to JPFD’s arrival due to early warning signals from the homes smoke alarm system. The home owner reported smoke and flames were seen on the back patio that rapidly spread to the attic and roof of the home. JPFD Firefighters arrived on scene within 4 minutes and had this fire under control within 30 minutes of arrival. No injuries were reported and this fire remains under investigation. Fire Chief Hudson acknowledges the very aggressive attack and actions taken by the first arriving units to contain this fire without issues and keeping the flames from nearby exposures of neighboring homes on both sides.

Additionally, Firefighter D Raines was chosen by the instructor’s of recruit class 02-25 for the “Honor Man Award”. This award is recognized for dependability, skills, and selflessness. In training, there are an exceptional few with a burning desire to persevere when their bodies are screaming to quit, yet they continue on. These few experience a tremendous sense of pride, achievement, brotherhood, and a new self-awareness that, “we can do anything!” The most outstanding among them—That firefighters whose acts and words inspire his classmates to keep going when they’re ready to quit—is the “Honor Man” of the Class.

Please join us in congratulating Firefighter Dylan Raines and welcome him aboard the Eastbank consolidated FD.
