🃏💐 What a wonderful day at The Suites at Algiers Point! 💐🃏

This morning our residents got competitive (in the best way!) with a lively game of Old Maid! 😄 Cards were passed, pairs were made, and lots of laughter filled the room as everyone tried to avoid being left holding that sneaky Old Maid card! ♠️♥️

Then this afternoon, we were so grateful to welcome a Hospice Specialists patient coordinator and volunteer, Rebecca, who spent time with our residents making personalized scented lotions! 🌸🧴 Each resident got to pick their favorite scent and create something special just for them. What a sweet, sensory treat for our residents!

We are so thankful for volunteers like Rebecca who bring extra joy and comfort to our community. 💙

This week, our wonderful volunteers from Compassus joined us at The Suites at Algiers Point Memory Care to create something truly special: personalized reminiscing cards for our residents! 💙

Each card features cherished photos from years past along with the hobbies, careers, and passions that shaped our residents’ lives. From beloved jobs to favorite pastimes, these cards help spark memories, meaningful conversations, and moments of connection for our residents.
Reminiscence therapy is such a powerful tool in memory care — it brings joy, comfort, and a sense of identity to those we serve. We’re so grateful to our Compassus volunteers for donating their time and hearts to make this project happen! 🙏

What a treat for our residents today! 🎷

Our incredible Activity Director, Sarah, traded in her usual planning clipboard for a saxophone and gave our residents a live performance they won’t soon forget! She serenaded the room with a soulful rendition of a beloved 80s classic, filling the air with smooth, sultry sax melodies.

There’s something magical about live music — the way it lights up faces, sparks memories, and gets toes tapping. Sarah’s talent (and heart!) shone through every note, and our residents were absolutely captivated.

We’re so grateful to have such a multi-talented team bringing joy and connection to our community every day. 🎶💙

Our residents LOVE having visitors stop by — it’s one of the best parts of their day! We just ask that everyone sign the guest book at the front desk when you arrive and depart. It helps us keep everyone safe, and honestly, it makes Maple feel very official.

This week, the one and only Valerie Sassyfrass brought her sassy, high-energy show to our community — and as always, she had everyone smiling, laughing, and dancing along! ✨

Valerie has graced the stage on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and even competed on America’s Got Talent, and we’re lucky enough to have her visit us monthly to keep our residents entertained and engaged!

We are so grateful to the wonderful volunteers from First Moore Baptist Church who visited The Suites at Algiers Point this week! They filled our halls with beautiful music, singing for both our Assisted Living and Memory Care residents, and stuck around to join in on a lively game of bowling.
