📣Workers’ Struggle Has NO BORDERS!📣

Yesterday PSL, Lafayette Community Defense (LCD), La AID, and other organization gathered outside of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office to demand an end to the 287(g) agreement. This agreement led to the racial profiling and detainment of a young mother for over 18 hours.

These racial profilings and attacks on our community will continue until we collectively say: ICE Out of Acadiana!

🗓️Let your voice be heard at the Parish Council Meeting this Tuesday 6/2 @ 705 W. University Avenue 4:30pm.

STOP THE RACIAL PROFILING - NO MORE 287G AGREEMENT IN LAFAYETTE! NO MORE POLICE-ICE COLLABORATION!

Last week, ICE and the Lafayette Sheriff’s Office arrested and detained a US citizen and mother of four, who was racially profiled, put in handcuffs, and detained despite showing her Louisiana ID and Social Security Card. She was separated from her baby— who had a fever of 104 degrees— and kept in an ICE jail for 18 hours.

This was only possible because the Lafayette Sheriff’s Office has a 287g agreement- a policy that allows local police to do the work of ICE agents by setting up checkpoints to racially profile and detain our neighbors without evidence or apology.

We cannot stand by while our neighbors are torn from their families. We demand an IMMEDIATE END to Lafayette’s 287G agreement!

Jeff Landry is a symptom of a political system built for corporations and the wealthy. He wants the people of Louisiana to blame immigrants and the working class while corporations and political insiders rob us blind.

That’s why thousands of people across the state are organizing around his recall. Louisianans are tired of a system that makes us struggle while billionaires profit.

A better Louisiana is possible when workers organize and fight for each other! ✊

🚨🚨This Thursday 5/21: STOP the corporate takeover of our city!

Last week, the New Orleans City Planning Commission voted unanimously to approve zoning for a private development project that would cost Louisiana taxpayers hundreds of MILLIONS of dollars!

Despite majority public opposition, the NOCPC sided with corporate interests while the city is currently experience a $200 million budget deficit, and working class people struggle to afford rising costs of living. Join us this Thursday at 10am for the next City Council Meeting, where we will make public comment to continue resisting the private takeover of public interests in New Orleans.
