✨ This week’s BLAST nominees are our Blazer sixth-grade students! ✨

They were nominated by Blazer educator Tyler Luce, who shared:

“We had a guest speaker in my classroom from the Preble County Historical Society. She talked to the students about a project that she was personally working on for the Historical Society. This project was to try to capture the history of Preble County through the older generation who spent their lives here by using primary source interviews. She is personally interviewing Preble County residents, but is only one person and can only get so many done on her own. She challenged our sixth-grade students to help her out.

Twelve of my sixth-grade students went out on their own time and used their own resources, interviewing friends, neighbors, teachers, and family members to help capture their stories of the past. These students were asked to go above and beyond work in the classroom while learning firsthand about primary sources. These students showed relentless efforts in their academics, and as their teacher, I am super proud of them for that!”

👏 Congratulations to the following students:
Conner Adkins, Hayden Barnes, Gunner Begoon, Paige Belcher, Alexander Dunn, Kya Ferguson, Marlee Powell, Harper Richardson, Charity Ruhl, Elaina Schutte, Jackson Smith, and Camilla Sullivan!

Thank you for preserving the stories of our community and leaving your mark through learning, leadership, and service.

✨ This week’s BLAST nominee is Blazer educator Mr. Eric Kennel! ✨

Mr. Kennel was nominated by Blazer educator Jessica Denny and student Zeva Pearson, who shared:

“We can’t say enough great things about Mr. Kennel! Zeva is a freshman in FFA and a member of the poultry team. He had never previously taken a student in a wheelchair to competitions, but that didn’t stop him—he has gone above and beyond to make it possible for her. He consistently ensures she has everything she needs to participate in these trips. While he says it’s been a learning process, you’d never know it—he handles everything like a true professional. Zeva and I are incredibly grateful for the time, care, and attention he puts into making sure all the necessary accommodations and precautions are in place so she can have successful and meaningful experiences!”

👏 Congratulations, Mr. Kennel! 👏

Thank you for your dedication, compassion, and commitment to making sure every student has the opportunity to succeed and belong. Your impact truly leaves a mark!
