Even though today was a somber day as we had the viewing for our beloved past Chief Ed Slane, we believe he decided to mess with us and deliver us a fire call. We were able to get 2 trucks , 54-11 and 54-40, off the floor with 8 firefighters

The Good Intent Fire Company regrets to announce the passing of former Chief 54 Ed Slane. Mr. Slane has been a member for many years and was in charge of many of the big fires we previously had in the town. A figure in the fire service, Mr. Slane was previously a state fire instructor and has taught numerous members and other fire companies the art of firefighting. Mr. Slane was also a member of the Tuscarora Fire Company and Phoenix Ladder Company, Truck 21, in Pottsville. Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.

The members of 54 would like to give a big thanks to this local business for supplying us with cars to practice vehicle rescue on to keep our skills sharp so we can provide top notch service to the community in the event of an emergency

For the month of May and this week's truck night we will be going over the in's & out's of vehicle rescue we have 2 suv's to practice on the main point we will focus on is
1 patient care during roof removal
2 glass removal
3 vehicle stabilization
4 make a 3rd door

This Sunday at the church, get your popcorn!

UPDATE : I'm set up on the 100 block of Valley Street across from Holy Cross church.
I'll be doing Kettle corn, funnel cakes and deep fried Oreos.

I'll be teaming up with Good Intent Fire Company of New Philadelphia again this Sunday from 10:00 to 4:00. I'd like to thank the citizens of New Philadelphia for their support, as well as Holy Cross Church and its parishioners.

Last night a little rain didn't stop the Hookies & the good intent members from getting together. To Throwing some ladders. Some knowledge was pased down. Some storm gutters were drained. The attack ran a traffic assist for p.s.p. with a TT stuck on the mountain. With the training coming to a close at the end of the night a few tube stakes were consumed. All in all the first joint training of 2026 was a fun success thanks to the rescue for stopping by and to all the members that took time from their personal lives to sharpen their skills that we all hope we will never need to use.

P.S. Just a fun side note in the last Pic is one of r oldest running members and one of r youngest mentors learning together. I'll let u figure out wich is wich lol

Please use the borough garage for p.o.v. parking letting the lot open for apparatus
