In July, high school student/teacher delegates from the 13 original colonies meet to commemorate the First Continental Congress held in 1774.

Applications for the 2026 Young People's Continental Congress are now open! Applications and more information can be found on our website at https://www.carpentershall.org/ypcc.

As in previous years, this program covers the travel costs for participants. The delegate teams will engage in an online learning program from January to June 2026 where they will learn about the revolutionary era and engage in dialogue and civic discourse. They will then be invited to Philadelphia for five days where they will continue to discuss and learn with their fellow student-teacher delegate teams.

Following their program, the delegate teams will share their learning in two community presentations and participate in the NHD National Contest in the 2026/2027 academic year.

We are happy to announce that we are now accepting applications for next year's Young Philadelphians' Continental Congress. After the success of our national Young Peoples' Continental Congress, held in both 2024 and 2025, next year, in addition to relaunching the national program, we will be piloting a local Philadelphia program.

Philadelphia student-teacher delegate teams will convene on five Saturdays from 9:30am until 3pm from April to May 2025. The session will include welcome snack and networking time, a lecture, lunch, tour, and afternoon tour with additional educational programming at historic sites and museums neighboring Carpenters' Hall.

Participants in the program will receive a monetary stipend, travel reimbursement, and teachers will receive act 48 credits. You can learn more and apply by clicking here: https://company.carpentershall.org/pages/young-philadelphians-continental-congress

On the road to YPCC... what are delegates most excited about?

Student delegate Zhara Waters from Delaware said: "I've always been very, very interested in history. I love learning about it, love reading about it, and I'm really excited to go on this amazing opportunity because it's one thing to learn about history. But actually going to the place where it happened and learning more about it is such a fun, amazing opportunity, and I'm really excited for it."
