๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿ›ถ๐Ÿš— Every road, rail line, and waterway tells a storyโ€”and in Tuscarawas County, transportation has shaped our communities for more than two centuries.

From the early days of the Ohio & Erie Canal, when canal boats carried people and goods through the heart of Ohio, to the arrival of the railroads that connected our communities to the nation, transportation has played a vital role in the growth and development of Tuscarawas County. Later, the construction of Interstate 77 transformed travel once again, creating new opportunities for commerce, tourism, and economic growth throughout the region.

Preserving these stories for future generations is one of the many important missions of the Tuscarawas County Historical Society Archives, a true treasure trove of local history and heritage.

In this special video, Historical Society Curator Kim Jurkovic shares fascinating insights into the evolution of transportation in Tuscarawas County, highlighting how the Ohio & Erie Canal, railroads, and the development of I-77 helped shape the communities we know today.

Join us for a journey through time and discover how transportation connected people, fueled progress, and helped build the Tuscarawas County we call home.
