New Philadelphia Fire Department EMS responded to a call for a potential stroke patient and promptly identified stroke symptoms on scene. A pre-hospital stroke alert was activated to Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital (CCUH) Emergency Department. Upon arrival, the ED physician confirmed the stroke alert, and the patient was rapidly taken to CT and evaluated by the telestroke neurologist.
The patient was determined to be a candidate for TNK, which was successfully administered in just 24 minutes, well under the 30-minute benchmark.
