The Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that has been providing vision rehabilitation since 1983. The Lighthouse provides vision habilitation and rehabilitation and adjustment to blindness services to people of all ages who have experienced vision impairment. Lighthouse has served tens of thousands of people who are visually impaired since its incorp

Our annual Sensory Palooza for babies and toddlers who are visually impaired or blind in Pasco, Hernando, and Citrus counties is almost here!

Join us on Saturday, September 5, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM for a morning of light play, tactile exploration, music and movement, and sensory stations. Families are welcome to participate and discover new ways to support their child's learning and development.

The Messengers Of Hope Mission Mobile Pantry will be at the New Port Richey Lighthouse / Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services of Florida TODAY, Tuesday, August 25, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The address is 9130 Ridge Road.

People who are deaf, hard of hearing, visually impaired, or blind, and in need of food are welcome to stop by. Please remember to bring your own bag. If you do not have one, a plastic bag will be provided.

Good work to this little one! During a recent Early Intervention session, one of our babies explored illuminated picture cards using an APH Mini Lite Box positioned on an activity tray and angled for easy viewing. He showed strong visual interest in the materials, especially a banana card, as we talked about its bright yellow color, elongated shape, and peel. He remained engaged as additional cards featuring a teddy bear, shoe, and toothbrush were introduced.

Lighthouse's Early Intervention Program helps infants and toddlers who are visually impaired or blind develop foundational skills through play-based, individualized activities. By partnering closely with families, our team supports each child's growth, learning, and exploration during these important early years.

It’s been a week since Teen Summer Camp wrapped up, and what an incredible experience it was for 13 LVIB teens!

The primary focus of was volunteer workplace experiences. Teens were placed at local organizations, gaining hands-on experience, building job readiness skills, exploring career interests and developing confidence.

To support success on the job and the transition to adulthood, campers participated in activities such as a behind-the-scenes courthouse tour, shopping for work attire and learning to use apps for transportation and food ordering. 5 teens also attended the Statewide STEAM Summer Camp in Davenport, Florida.

We balanced all the hard work with fun, relaxing activities. Most importantly, campers built friendships, made lasting memories, and continued developing skills that will help them succeed in school, work and life.
