Hon. Michele Matsikoudis

Hon. Michele Matsikoudis Assemblywoman for New Jersey's 21st Legislative District from Jan 2022 through Jan 2026.

Michele Matsikoudis currently serves as a member of the New Jersey General Assembly, representing the 21st Legislative District, which includes portions of Middlesex, Morris, Somerset, and Union Counties. In the Assembly, Michele is a leading voice on issues ranging from affordability, to accessibility, to K-12 education. She serves as a member of four different Committees: Commerce, Education, Hi

gher Education and the Joint Committee on Public Schools. As a public servant, Michele is dedicated to advocating for her constituents, and has worked to recover over $850,000 in state benefits since entering office in January 2022. Michele is committed to governing in a pragmatic and practical way, focused on returning transparency and accountability to Trenton. She has built strong partnerships with caucus members and has worked across party lines to reach common sense solutions and achieve real progress for residents. Michele is a passionate champion of those who have served our country in uniform, devoting time and energy to supporting our nation’s veterans. She will be forever proud that her very first bill to be signed into law was legislation designed to help provide veterans with a clearer on-ramp into the civilian workforce as licensed practical nurses. This bill received five unanimous votes before heading to the Governor’s desk. In her free time, Michele serves as a Board Member of the New Jersey Veterans Network, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of veterans by connecting them with resources and solutions designed to meet their unique needs. She has received The New Jersey Veterans of Foreign Wars Commendation Award in recognition of her many volunteer efforts in support of military families. A mother of three and former PTA President, Michele also recognizes the important role that parents should play in the education system, and believes that our schools should focus on what they do best - teaching core curriculum subjects and helping students to thrive academically. To ensure that New Jersey’s schools can maintain their high-quality level of education, Michele continues to advocate for cutting unnecessary red tape and bolstering education programs to address our state’s teacher shortage. Michele’s guiding mission in the Assembly is making District 21 a better and more affordable place to live, work, and learn. Michele has been a trailblazer throughout her professional career, often finding herself as one of the only women in the room while she worked for some of the most prominent financial institutions in the country. Now, as an assemblywoman and former councilwoman, Michele actively works to support and inspire the next generation of women leaders at the state and local levels. Today, Michele lives in New Providence alongside her husband of more than 25 years, John. The couple adores their three young adult children, John, Lillian, and William, as well as everyone’s favorite furry family member, Lexi.

It was an honor to speak at the NJASA Women’s Educational Leadership Forum at Kean University recently. I enjoyed sharing my experiences balancing public service, policy, and parenthood while connecting with so many inspiring women leaders from across New Jersey.

Thank you to Dr. Janet Fike for the opportunity to be part of such an empowering conversation!

Hey everyone, exciting update out of Trenton! 🎉 The Assembly just *unanimously* passed a proposal that I championed during my time in the Legislature: ensuring that patients with special needs may always have a caregiver with them throughout the entirety of their hospital stay. This is a major win for residents with disabilities, and I’m happy to have played a role in placing it on the agenda through my advocacy over the past four years!

UPDATE 📣 After Gov. Murphy’s last round of bill signings, the final numbers are in: during my time in the Legislature, 113 bipartisan bills that I sponsored or co-sponsored passed the Assembly, with a whopping 77 being signed into law! 🥳📜

Taken in combination with the nearly $1.5 million in direct benefits that our team recovered for residents, I couldn’t be more proud of all that we accomplished during our four years serving District 21! ✅

ICYMI: I recently had the opportunity to deliver my final remarks on the Assembly floor, as I reflected on the past four years of service to District 21. I’m beyond grateful for the partnerships I’ve built and the measurable results that my team and I have secured for residents.

I hope you’ll take a few minutes out of your day to listen to my farewell speech, where I spoke about the importance of bipartisan collaboration and crafting a more representative and responsive state government for all.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Last night, I had the privilege of attending the municipal reorganization meeting in my hometown of New Providence, where I honored outgoing Councilwoman Diane Bilicska and Councilman Alex Kogan, for their years of exemplary service to our community, and congratulated the incoming Councilmen as well.

What an amazing surprise to receive the Key to the Borough from Mayor Al Morgan while I was there! 💚💛
