⚠️ WEATHER AWARE WEDNESDAY ⚠️

The National Weather Service in Wilmington is continuing to monitor the potential for severe weather and flooding today, Wednesday, August 12.

🌧️ Of particular concern this morning: The line of storms currently moving through the region has already produced 2 to 4 inches of rainfall in portions of Indiana. As this system continues east, heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding will be possible across our area.

Additional rounds of thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and continue into the evening.

Primary concerns throughout the day include:

* 🌧️ Heavy rainfall and flash flooding
* 💨 Damaging wind gusts
* 🌳 Downed trees, tree limbs, and power lines
* ⚡ Frequent lightning with stronger storms

Please remain weather aware throughout the day, especially if you live in or travel through low-lying or flood-prone areas.

📱 Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings.
🚗 Never drive through flooded roadways — Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
🏠 Be prepared to move to a safe location if a warning is issued for our area.

⚠️ SEVERE WEATHER & FLASH FLOODING POSSIBLE TODAY ⚠️

The New Richmond Fire & EMS Department is encouraging everyone to remain weather aware throughout the day today and into tonight.

According to the National Weather Service, multiple rounds of thunderstorms are expected throughout the day. Strong to damaging winds, very heavy rainfall, and flash flooding will be the primary threats. The threat for heavy rain and flash flooding may continue through tonight and into early Wednesday morning.

🌧️ Now is the time to prepare:
• Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts - do not rely on outdoor warning sirens alone.
• Make sure your phone is charged and emergency alerts are enabled.
• Secure outdoor furniture, trash cans, and other loose items.
• Know where you and your family will go if a warning is issued.
• Never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway - Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
• Use extra caution overnight, when flooding and storm damage may be difficult to see.

Please continue to monitor weather conditions throughout the day and take all watches and warnings seriously.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as conditions change. Please remain weather aware throughout the day and have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, especially in the event of power outages. Stay informed, stay prepared, and use caution if you must travel.

Thunderstorms will develop ahead of an approaching cold front today. While some storms will be possible this morning, the better chance for severe weather will be this afternoon into this evening. Damaging winds will be the main threat along with the potential for locally heavy rainfall.

It is with profound sadness that the members of the Stonelick Township Fire Department announce the off-duty passing of Firefighter Wyatt Fisher. Wyatt’s unexpected passing has left an immeasurable void within our department and throughout the community he so proudly served.

Wyatt exemplified what it meant to serve others. Whether answering emergency calls, supporting his fellow firefighters, or lending a helping hand whenever it was needed, he carried himself with compassion, humility, and dedication. His commitment to protecting our community reflected the very best of the fire service.

Wyatt’s passion for serving others began early in his life. Prior to joining the Stonelick Township Fire Department, he proudly served as a Cadet with Wayne Township Fire & EMS, where he developed the skills, values, and dedication that would define his career in the fire service. He continued that commitment as a firefighter with our department, earning the respect and friendship of everyone who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

Beyond his service to the fire service, Wyatt was a proud graduate of Clermont Northeastern High School and had recently accepted a position as an assistant coach for the Clermont Northeastern boys’ soccer program. He was deeply committed to mentoring young people and making a positive impact both on and off the field. His character, leadership, and selfless spirit touched countless lives.

During this incredibly difficult time, we ask our community to keep Wyatt’s family, friends, teammates, fellow firefighters, and all who knew him in your thoughts and prayers. We are grateful for the overwhelming support shown to our department and to those mourning this tremendous loss.

Wyatt’s legacy of service, kindness, and dedication will never be forgotten. It will continue to inspire the members of the Stonelick Township Fire Department, Wayne Township Fire & EMS, and all those whose lives he touched for years to come.

Funeral arrangements and opportunities to honor Wyatt’s life will be shared as they become available.

Rest easy, Brother. We have the watch from here.

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 3:00 PM, Chief 36, Quint 36, and Engine 36 were dispatched to the 200 block of Union Street for a report of smoke coming from a residence. Chief 36 arrived on scene and confirmed smoke showing from the structure, prompting the request for additional mutual aid fire and EMS units to assist with operations.

A huge thank you to the New Richmond Police for their quick response and assistance throughout the incident.

While crews were still operating at the structure fire around 4:30 pm the New Richmond Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 52 and Sycamore Street. A Union Township medic unit had just cleared the structure fire and immediately responded to assist without hesitation. One patient was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Days like today are a reminder that no department serves its community alone. We are grateful for the outstanding teamwork and professionalism demonstrated by all of our mutual aid partners. Working together allows us to continue providing the highest level of service to the residents and visitors of New Richmond.

Welcome to the New Richmond Fire & EMS family, Engine 36!

Yesterday, we officially placed our new 2025 E-ONE Engine 36 into service, replacing our faithful 1993 E-ONE after more than three decades of dedicated service to our community.

This new apparatus brings enhanced safety features, improved reliability, and updated technology that will help our firefighters continue providing the highest level of service to the residents and visitors of New Richmond.

Last night, our members spent time training with Engine 36 to become familiar with its equipment and capabilities. A special thank you to Emily Fithen for capturing these great photos of the training.

Please join us in welcoming our newest engine to the fleet! We look forward to many years of service with Engine 36 as we continue our commitment to protecting our community.
