๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿšจ PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ“š

It has come to our attention that National Read a Book Day is TODAY, September 6โ€ฆ and frankly, we think this is something worth celebrating. ๐Ÿ˜

Our team has some important reminders:

๐Ÿ“– Reading is good for you. Side effects may include laughing out loud, staying up โ€œjust one more chapter,โ€ and suddenly needing to know what happens next.

๐Ÿ“š Books are everywhere. You donโ€™t even have to buy one! We have thousands waiting for you right here at the New Richmond Library. ๐Ÿ˜‰

โฐ There is no age limit. Kids, teens, adults, seniorsโ€ฆ even the person who says, โ€œIโ€™m not really a reader.โ€ Weโ€™ve got something for you.

๐Ÿคซ Reading quietly is encouraged. Although dramatic gasps, occasional giggles, and whispering โ€œNO WAYโ€ to yourself are completely understandable.

๐Ÿšจ If you experience symptoms of book-hoarding, please remain calm. We get it. We can help.

So, on National Read a Book Day, we have just one question:

What are YOU reading? ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ“š

Stop by the New Richmond Community Library this week and tell us how you celebrated!

Back to School: Letโ€™s Keep Our Students Safe! ๐ŸšŒ๐Ÿ“š

Next week marks the start of another school year, which means school buses will be back on our roads and students will be walking and biking throughout our community.

Please slow down, stay alert, and give yourself extra time when traveling near schools and bus stops.

Remember these important safety reminders:

๐Ÿ›‘ Stop for school buses when the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended. Never attempt to pass a stopped school bus.
๐Ÿšธ Watch for children near bus stops, crosswalks, and residential areas. Young students may not always be aware of traffic.
๐Ÿš— Slow down in school zones and follow posted speed limits.
๐ŸšŒ Give buses plenty of space and be patient when they are stopping to pick up or drop off students.
๐Ÿ“ต Put down the phone and eliminate distractions while driving.
๐Ÿ‘€ Look twice before pulling out of driveways or turning at intersections, especially during morning and afternoon school hours.

A few extra seconds of patience can make all the difference. Letโ€™s work together to keep our students, bus drivers, pedestrians, and everyone who shares our roads safe throughout the school year.

Welcome back, studentsโ€”and have a safe school year! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ“š

โ€œWhat are they doing there?!โ€ ๐Ÿ‘€

We get that question a LOT at City Hall! While itโ€™s up to a developer whether they choose to put up a sign for their project, some like to keep you guessing! ๐Ÿ˜‰

So, how can you find out what development is happening around town? One great resource is our Plan Commission meeting agendas and minutes. These documents can provide information about proposed development projects that are coming before the Commission.

You can also sign up to receive notifications about upcoming meetings so you can stay in the know!

๐Ÿ“š Book lovers, unite! ๐Ÿ“š

Looking for your people? Want to talk books without getting that look when you start discussing fictional characters like theyโ€™re real? ๐Ÿ˜‚

The New Richmond Community Library has all kinds of book clubs to help you connect with great books and great people! And there are TWO new clubs just for teens/tweensโ€”because apparently grown-ups donโ€™t get to have all the fun. ๐Ÿ˜‰

And if you already have a book club, NRCL has ways to support your club, too! ๐Ÿ“–โœจ

๐Ÿ‘‰ Check out the libraryโ€™s website or stop by the library to see all the ways you can read, connect, discuss, and maybe make a few new bookish friends along the way: https://newrichmondlibrary.org/book-club-support/
Come for the books. Stay for the conversation. Leave with a new TBR pile. ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ˜„
