A popular venue for generations of locals and visitors was the Casa Loma restaurant, bar and motel on False River Dr. It was founded by C.M. Aldridge in 1947 and successively operated by the Cranfield, Didier and Pourciau families. After closing ca1980, the motel was demolished, the main building moved to Hospital Rd. near Portage Canal, and the old property redeveloped into residential lots.
Casa Loma: Spanish for "House on the Hill"
