Just another “Manic Monday”…

Thank you to The Pointe Coupee Early Childhood Coalition for putting on this event where community leaders were invited to “teach” in daycare centers across the parish. Sheriff Thibodeaux was able to visit & read to students at Bucks & Bows Learning. This effort strengthens collaboration and encourages community support for early childhood education across the parish.

We even were able to recruit some new Junior Deputies 😉

🚨 SCAMMERS ARE OUT THERE 🚨

The Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff’s Office wants to remind everyone to stay alert and protect yourself from scams and fraud attempts. Criminals are becoming more convincing every day, often pretending to be law enforcement, insurance companies, banks, or even family members in distress.

⚠️ Remember:
• Never give out personal or banking information over the phone or online
• Law enforcement agencies will NOT call demanding money or payment
• Always verify legitimacy before sending money or sharing information
• If something feels suspicious, pause and double check before acting

Scammers prey on fear, urgency, and confusion. Don’t become their next victim.

If you believe you’ve been targeted by a scam, contact the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff’s Office immediately. Stay aware. Stay informed. Stay protected. 🚔

Last week, the Crime Stoppers Beyond Bars Program was presented to the seniors at Livonia High School.

Vetted trustees Desmond and Reshawn shared their powerful real-life testimonies, giving students an honest look into the consequences of poor decisions and the importance of making positive choices. Their willingness to speak openly about their past mistakes provided valuable lessons and encouragement for our youth to learn from the experiences of others.

Programs like Beyond Bars continue to make an impact by opening conversations, inspiring change, and reminding students that every decision matters. We appreciate Desmond and Reshawn for having the courage to share their stories and invest in the next generation. Thank you to Capital Area Crime Stoppers for investing their time and resources into our youth.

Boiled, seasoned, and served with appreciation! 🦞🔥

We celebrated our incredible PCPSO employees with an Employee Appreciation Crawfish Boil. From long hours to unwavering commitment, this team shows up for our community day in and day out—and Friday was all about showing up for them.

We appreciate each and every one of you!

{Thank you to all of our crawfish farmers who each generously donated the crawfish and to Hawkeye LaCour for cooking them to perfection!}

The Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff’s Office is proud to celebrate the accomplishments of our 5th and 8th grade students during the first parish-wide D.A.R.E. Graduation Ceremony!

Throughout this school year, these students committed themselves to learning valuable lessons about making good decisions, resisting peer pressure, and building a strong foundation for a successful future. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them for completing the program.

A special thank you to Ms. Leighann Kirby of Arbor Family Health for delivering a heartfelt and inspiring message to our students. Your words made a lasting impact and were a wonderful addition to this special day.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the many local businesses City of New Roads, Super 1 Foods, Olinde’s Grocery, Soprano’s Supermarket & Parish Home and Farm who generously sponsored this event. Your continued support helps us invest in the youth of Pointe Coupee Parish and strengthen our community.

Congratulations again to all of our D.A.R.E. graduates—we are proud of you and excited for all that lies ahead!

The Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff’s Office was proud to participate in the PCACA Autism Advocates 5K event focused on awareness, inclusion, and community support.

We also distributed our first round of special needs car decals—a monumental step toward enhancing safety for our precious children and providing first responders with critical awareness during traffic stops and emergencies. This initiative is all about protecting and supporting families in our community.

On top of that, we had team members out there participating in the 5K, showing what it truly means to support our community.

So proud of our team for stepping up, serving with heart, and making a difference where it matters most. 💙

✨Deputy of the Year✨

Please join us in congratulating our PCPSO Deputy of the Year, Sgt. Shelley Benton.

Sgt. Benton consistently goes above and beyond in everything she does. She’s the one who steps up without hesitation, taking on the tasks others might shy away from, and handling them with skill, precision, and professionalism. More importantly, she leads with heart—always showing care, compassion, and a genuine commitment to the people she serves.

What makes her even more deserving of this recognition is that she never seeks it. She does the work because it’s who she is, not because she wants the spotlight. As Lt. Battiste put it best—she’s probably still mad we made her get up in front of a crowd.

Congratulations, Sgt. Benton. We appreciate you more than words can say.

Last week we celebrated Communications Week with a whole lot of spirit and a little extra style! 🤠🏈

From Western Wear Monday to Jersey Day, Wacky Wednesday, Twin Day, and ending strong with a Black Out Friday, our team showed up and showed out. It was a fun way to highlight the personalities behind the voices that keep everything running smoothly every single day.

We’re grateful for this hardworking group and the dedication they bring—24/7. Thanks for making the week one to remember!
