The Young Democrats of New Rochelle High School (NRHSYDA) is the first ever progressive political club of New Rochelle High School. This club serves to help students increase their knowledge of politics and helps them get an idea of what the Democratic Party stands for. We will be engaging in critical thinking and debate and deep political issues facing our nation. Issues like Immigration Reform,
Civil Rights, Minimum Wage, College Debt, Foreign Policy, and many more will be discussed at our meetings. Over the course of the school year, we will be participating in several field trips across the nation. Due to the long distances, we might miss a few but you are welcome to attend on your own, and show your democratic pride. One of the biggest initiatives we plan on implementing are the monthly meetings with guest speakers. Yes, every month, we will be having politicians such as Senators, Congressman and City Elected Officials. We will also be having professionals such as lawyers, judges and businessmen. This will give students a chance to get converse with politicians and everyday professionals involved with the Democratic Party. Students will be required to dress appropriately (business casual) when ever we have guest speakers. Finally, we will be having a lot of fun, and joining other clubs like the Human Rights Club or the Hispanic Culture Club to plan events and move our school forward
