“Hey Shawn,

I needed to drop you a note to tell you how great your crew was in getting myself and my throttleman out of the boat on Saturday after my flip in Michigan City. I was told the guys were on the scene quickly and observed us through the windshield as we made our way out of the boat.

A few of your guys stopped by my pit the next day to discuss how things could have gone faster. It is a great feeling knowing that you and your crew are always striving to make changes that will benefit us racers.

I’m 100% confident that the dunk training I received just a few days prior to race day was instrumental with my egress. I will have seat belt cutters installed in the boat before the next race and that will GREATLY speed up things from my end!

Thanks again and I look forward to seeing you in Clearwater!

SSR members recently conducted some “non-scientific” testing of several seat belt and harness cutters using expired restraints. The Gill Harness Rescue Tool MT011 pictured below was our preferred choice.

SSR recommends carrying a seat belt/harness cutter as part of your personal safety equipment, secured to your capsule suit or mounted inside the cockpit where it is readily accessible for emergency self-extrication

🏁 SUPER STOCK IS NOW A UIM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP CLASS

Race World Offshore announces that the APBA Super Stock class has been officially added as a UIM-recognized World Championship class for 2026, under agreement signed by UIM President Dr. Raffaele Chiulli.

Earlier this year, RWO secured a five-year licensing agreement (2026–2030) with UIM Events, establishing RWO as the home of the UIM Offshore World Championships in North America — Class 1, Class 2, and Super Cat. Super Stock now becomes the fourth UIM world title contested under the RWO banner.

The Super Stock UIM World Championship begins August 1–2 in Michigan City, Indiana.

Championship points conclude on Friday of the Key West World Championships this November. That night, the UIM World Champions will be crowned during the Duval Street Parade — race boats moving down Duval at dusk, tens of thousands of fans lining the street, and the sport's newest world champions honored in the middle of it. It is the signature night in offshore racing, and there is nothing else like it.

The Super Stock UIM World Champion will also be recognized on the sport's international stage in Monaco.

Four UIM world titles. One season. It runs through Key West.

The Super Stock World Championship is contested over three two-day events — six races in all. It opens August 1–2 in Michigan City, moves to the Clearwater Offshore Nationals September 25–27, and the final two races are decided at the Key West World Championships, November 1–8.

Michigan City. Clearwater. Key West.
