Interstate 70 Restrictions Scheduled in Westmoreland County
Due to work on the I-70 at Arnold City Interchange Project
Uniontown, PA—Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing single-lane restrictions are scheduled to occur on westbound Interstate 70 between Exit 43 (Route 201 Fayette City) and Exit 46 (Route 51/I-70 Interchange) in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County, weather permitting.
Daytime single-lane restrictions from 6:00 AM until 4:00 PM:
• Tuesday, May 19
• Wednesday, May 20
• Thursday, May 21
During this time, crews will place temporary concrete pavement adjacent to the westbound lanes.
Drivers are asked to exercise caution driving through the work zone. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
This work is part of the I-70 at Arnold City Interchange project, which connects Route 3011 (Finley Road/Indian Hill Road) and Daugherty Lane to I-70. The project aims to enhance safety and traffic operations at the interchange and along the interstate. The project area is approximately 1.75 miles long, extending from the I-70 bridge over the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad to 1.37 miles east of the Arnold City Interchange. Golden Triangle Construction Company, Inc., is the prime contractor.
The $89 million infrastructure investment will include widening the median from four (4) feet to 10 feet and the outside shoulders from 10 to 12 feet. The reconstructed interchange will utilize a diamond configuration with a five-leg roundabout connecting the eastbound ramps with Indian Hill Road and Finley Road. The westbound ramps will be rebuilt as standard diamond ramps with a non-signalized intersection. The roadway will be shifted approximately four (4) feet to the north to accommodate the widening.
