🍿Outdoor Movie Night Update 🎬

Just a quick update for tomorrow’s outdoor movie night! We’ve pushed back the start time from 8:30 PM to 10:00 PM so everyone can enjoy the movie once it’s dark enough to see the screen clearly—gotta love those long summer evenings! 🌅

While we wait for showtime, we’d love to see you out there early to enjoy the vibes. We’ll still have our cozy s’mores station and concessions set up! Don’t forget to dress comfortably, bring your lawn chairs and blankets, and get ready for a relaxing night under the stars. ✨

Oh—and here’s a little riddle for you:
🧸 “He wears a ranger hat, loves the forest, and only you can help him prevent a certain fiery problem… Any guesses who might be stopping by?”

EXTREME COLD WARNING ISSUED FOR FBIR 1/18-1/21: ‼️LIFE-THREATENING WIND CHILL CONDITIONS‼️⬇️
As a last reminder-the MHA Nation EOC sent out a wireless emergency alert reservation wide this morning around 9:30am to help ensure everyone in our area is aware of the extremely dangerous wind chill conditions that will be a significant hazard now until Tuesday afternoon.
The NWS advises in their updated warning that Wind Chill Values will fall to as low as -55 across the state everywhere north and east of the Missouri River.
✅Preparedness Actions:
FBIR Residents are urged to take all necessary precautions to stay warm, safe, and comfortable during this period of exceptionally low temperatures.
✔️Please stay indoors as much as possible. Frostbite and Hypothermia can and will begin to set in within 5 minutes of exposure.
✔️Refrain from any unnecessary travel. If you must travel ensure you and your vehicle are Winter Ready and let someone know your travel plans-no matter how short the commute. In these temperatures-vehicles become less reliable.
✔️Check on the Elderly and your neighbor’s.
✔️Be especially vigilant for young children, older adults, individuals with chronic illnesses, those working outdoors, and those without proper shelter.
✔️Know the Cold-Related symptoms of Frostbite and Hypothermia. Also watch for shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness in extremities-even after coming indoors and warming up.
✔️Be aware of the increase of fire hazards by monitoring any supplemental heating sources such as electric portable heaters, candles, etc.
✔️Let your faucets drip to help mitigate bursting water pipes.
✔️Bring Pets Inside.
✔️Immediately report any power outages and have a plan to temporarily stay with a nearby friend, relative, neighbor if necessary.
✔️Know the route to your nearest Warming Shelter if needed.
✔️If you become stranded in your vehicle, DO NOT attempt to hitchhike or walk. Call 701-627-3617 or 911 immediately for assistance. Again-these are life threatening conditions and it is best to shelter in place in your vehicle/creating as much extra layers around yourself as possible with your winter vehicle kit supplies and wait for help.
✔️Let’s look out for one another and help each other get home safe-report any vehicles stopped or individuals who might be walking along the roadways so emergency services can check on them and provide assistance if needed. Use your best judgment for your safety.
✔️Keep yourself updated on changing weather and road conditions by monitoring local weather and news stations. KMHA is working with the EOC to help provide timely pertinent community and emergency updates

Updates from Segments, Emergency Services, area businesses and other related information will be posted periodically in the comments of this post.
Helpful safety information will also be posted in the comments section. Please share this post. Be safe and stay warm everyone!
