What a great evening for the Farm-City Hub Club's Family Night on a Farm! The weather was perfect and the crowd was big! Lots of things for all ages. "Animal Alley" along the driveway had two piglets, two turkeys, two sheep, two rabbits, and two calves. On the other side of the driveway, numerous organizaions shared info and fun at their tables. There were wagon rides, milking demonstrations on the hour, walking tours to the beef barn, a picnic meal, and more. And did I mention free treats—milk, ice cream bars, string cheese and root beer floats? Two more photo posts will follow.

We're getting ready for you to come to Family Night on a Farm tomorrow (Thursday)!! Hub Club members spent a few hours at the Hoffman farm Wednesday afternoon to prepare. We'll be back tomorrow morning to make sure that everything is ready for you at 4:00 pm. Looks like the weather will be perfect for a fun, relaxing afternoon/early evening!

Even before the "set-up crew" was busy putting the Bavarian Blast outdoor kitchen together Wednesday, another crew of Farm-City Hub Club members was hard at work. The "potato salad crew" was busy Tuesday. Working in the kitchen at the St. George Parish Center, they peeled onions, fried bacon, and put everything together for that scrumpious German potato salad that the club will serve this weekend. And, even earlier (last week Thursday) another crew made sauerkraut. Stop at the Hub Club food tent during Bavarian Blast to enjoy their work!

Building an outdoor kitchen, one piece at a time. It's no small feat to re-create the Hub Club's kitchen at Bavarian Blast each year. The food stand committee and volunteers were there Wednesday morning, pulling things together. Most of the kitchen equipment is stored under the grandstand on the fairgrounds, so it all has to be moved over. The rest of the equipment and supplies are "trucked in." The stand will be ready Thursday for Bavarian Blast's opening. Thank you to all the volunteers—both today and through the entire run.

The New Ulm Farm-City Hub Club will be grilling pancakes for the breakfast at the Southern Minnesota Youth Dairy Show Saturday—and they'll be doing it on new grills!! After years of nursing those big old HEAVY grills along, the club decided to buy new ones. They'll be initiated at Saturday's breakfast. To get them ready, Hub Club board members—along with some of the regular grillers—gathered at Don Sanderson's Tuesday evening to season the grills and figure out how to operate them. There were a few little hiccups, but things should be set. Stop by the "bus garage" at the fairgrounds in New Ulm Saturday, 7:00-9:30 a.m., for pancakes from the new grills. The seasoning went on despite several rain showers, causing the need to move the grills in and out of Don's garage. To get ready for the work, the group enjoyed a hamburger supper—made on Don's grill.

Everyone welcome!!! The New Ulm Farm City Hub Club will serve a pancake breakfast at the fairgrounds in New Ulm (in the "bus garage" next to the Youth Coliseum) this Saturday, June 27, 7:00 to 9:30 a.m. The breakfast is in conjunction with the Southern Minnesota Youth Dairy Show. It's open to the public...come on out for a great Hub Club pancake breakfast!
