Brown County has not seen an overdose death since 2023 - and that's wonderful - but we can still talk about overdose prevention.

One of the tools we have to prevent these deaths is Narcan (naloxone). Narcan can rapidly reverse an opioid overdose, helping restore breathing and giving a person a chance to survive until emergency medical help arrives.

Learn the signs of an overdose and how to give Narcan. Being prepared could help save a life.

Breastfeeding can be overwhelming and physically demanding for a new mom, so it’s important to have her back! 💗Dads and partners play a huge role in breastfeeding success. And WIC is here to help you do so! Here are some tips to help support your breastfeeding partner:

🧹Lighten the chore load for your partner! Mom needs to focus on resting, healing, and nursing.

🥛Anticipate mom’s needs during feeding, like cleaning bottles and breast pumps and bringing her snacks and water!

👶Share baby duties! Make sure to handle non-feeding tasks like diapering and burping while mom rests.

Learn more about WIC’s breastfeeding support and education. 🤱 Our certified lactation consultants and peer counselors are here to help! Get started by visiting www.signupwic.com! 💖

We've shared this earlier this summer, but it's worth repeating! 💛

Our communities are deeply rooted in agriculture—from small family farms to larger farming operations. And we know that tough seasons happen.

That's when we can pull together and support one another. Talking about it helps—even if it's just saying, "I'm having a bad day."

You don't have to go through a tough season alone. 🌱

Did you know? 🤔Water is one of the most important nutrients for your body! 💧

Water makes up about 60% of the body and is needed for every single organ to function properly. Water also helps prevent dehydration and regulates your body temperature, which is so important during the hot summer months! ☀️Staying hydrated is especially important for little ones and those who are breastfeeding!

The Brown County Free Fair starts tomorrow! What are you most excited for?

🐮🪿🐴 Animals
🎶🎤🎸 Music
🚗🚜🚐 Demo Derby and Tractor Pull
🍔🌭🍗 Food
🎯🎡🎠 Games and Rides

Stop by to see our team at Senior Day, Kids Day, and in the Exhibits on Friday! We'll be checking blood pressures, playing games, and talking cannabis! Make sure to say hi.

And... don't forget a few healthy fair tips...

👐 Wash your hands - The fair is fun - but don't let germs ruin it! Wash your hands after visiting the animals and before eating.
💧Stay hydrated - With all the walking, activities, and summer heat, remember to drink plenty of water.
🌭Keep food safe - Choose hot foods that are served hot and cold foods that are kept cold.
🧴Protect your skin - Bring the sunscreen and reapply, especially if you'll be outside all day.
👂🏻Protect your ears - The demo derby and tractor pull can get loud. Consider bringing hearing protection, especially for kids.

Have fun, stay safe, and we'll see you at the fair!
