There is a lot of debate going right now about property taxes and how to move forward.

Just FYI Warren county residents…. Anyone can look this up on the www.iowaassessors.com page. But here is a snap shot of mine. We all want better services and lower taxes.

Unfortunately what we are doing at the county level is less than 50% (in my scenario) of my property taxes, schools have had a long unregulated leash for too long.

In preparation of the extreme cold expected to impact Indianola and much of Iowa, the City of Indianola, alongside numerous community partners and organizations, will open a warming shelter to displaced individuals and residents in need starting at 6 p.m. tonight, Thursday, January 22, through 10 a.m. Monday, January 26.

The warming shelter will be at Welift Job Search Center / Trinity United Presbyterian Church, located at 106 E 2nd Avenue, Indianola, IA 50125. This location will provide a safe place to rest and stay warm during dangerously cold conditions. Individuals seeking shelter should enter through WeLift Job Search Center’s main door, located on the southeast side of the building. On-site registration is required.

This…… When the state of Iowa requires a county reassessment, properties like this get figured into the equation of what land is worth.

I set here and wonder how my 10ac with a CSR2 score in the 50’s went from $50k in 2024 to $170k in 2025…. Well this is why.
