RP Black Life ATX | Black Excellence of Austin Dr. Opal Lee, known as the Grandmother of Juneteenth, spent decades fighting to ensure the story of freedom was recognized across the nation. Through persistence, advocacy, and grassroots organizing, she helped make history when Juneteenth was officially signed into law in 2021.

Her legacy reminds us that visibility matters.
