Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations Hosts "UN Unplugged" Networking Reception

The Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations hosted "UN Unplugged," a networking reception at the Thai House, bringing together Permanent Representatives and Deputy Permanent Representatives, election officers, and experts from across the diplomatic community as delegations return from the summer recess ahead of the UN General Assembly High-Level Week.

Guests of honour included Ambassador Suphanvasa Chotikajan Tang, Chair of the PrepCom for the United Nations Diplomatic Conference of Plenipotentiaries on Protection of Persons in the Event of Disasters (PPED), and Ambassador Vilawan Mangklatanakul, Thailand's candidate for re-election to the International Law Commission for the 2028–2032 term.

The evening featured Thai cuisine prepared by the chef of the Ambassador's Residence, along with a collaboration with Up Thai to create beverages with a twist of Thai flavours for the occasion.

The reception reflected Thailand's continued commitment to fostering friendship, dialogue, and cooperation within the multilateral community in New York.

เมื่อวันที่ 18 สิงหาคม 2569 นางปวรี ชูโต ชัยปฏิยุทธ เอกอัครราชทูต รองผู้แทนถาวรไทยประจำสหประชาชาติ ได้นำข้าราชการคณะผู้แทนถาวรฯ ทำกิจกรรมจิตอาสาบำเพ็ญประโยชน์และบำเพ็ญสาธารณกุศล เพื่อเฉลิมพระเกียรติสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวเนื่องในโอกาสวันเฉลิมพระชนมพรรษา 28 กรกฎาคม 2569 และเนื่องในวันคล้ายวันพระราชสมภพสมเด็จพระนางเจ้าสิริกิติ์ พระบรมราชินีนาถ พระบรมราชชนนีพันปีหลวง และวันแม่แห่งชาติ 12 สิงหาคม 2569 โดยข้าราชการคณะผู้แทนถาวรฯ ได้ร่วมบริจาคหนังสือให้แก่ร้านหนังสือ Housing Works สาขา SoHo ของนครนิวยอร์ก ซึ่งจำหน่ายหนังสือและสินค้ามือสอง เพื่อนำกำไรทั้งหมดไปช่วยเหลือกลุ่มผู้ติดเชื้อเอชไอวีและผู้ป่วยโรคเอดส์

On 18 August 2026, H.E. Mrs. Pawaree Xuto Chaipatiyut, Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations, joined by officials of the Permanent Mission of Thailand, donated used books to Housing Work Bookstore and Café in Soho, New York. This volunteer activity was organised by the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations to commemorate the birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, 28 July 2026, and the birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother and Mother’s Day of Thailand, 12 August 2026. All profits from the bookstore go to supporting people living with HIV and AIDS.

ผู้แทนถาวรไทยกล่าวถ้อยแถลงในการอภิปรายเปิดของคณะมนตรีความมั่นคงแห่งสหประชาชาติ ว่าด้วยการระงับข้อพิพาทโดยสันติวิธี

เมื่อวันที่ 23 กรกฎาคม 2569 นายเชิดชาย ใช้ไววิทย์ เอกอัครราชทูตและผู้แทนถาวรไทยประจำสหประชาชาติ ณ นครนิวยอร์ก กล่าวถ้อยแถลงในการอภิปรายเปิด (Open Debate) ของคณะมนตรีความมั่นคงแห่งสหประชาชาติ ในหัวข้อการระงับข้อพิพาทโดยสันติวิธี ซึ่งจัดขึ้นเพื่อติดตามผลการดำเนินการตามข้อมติคณะมนตรีความมั่นคงที่ 2788 (2025)

เอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้เน้นย้ำถึงความเร่งด่วนของการป้องกัน การเจรจา และการทูต ท่ามกลางความขัดแย้งระหว่างรัฐที่ทวีความรุนแรง โดยไทยยืนยันการสนับสนุนกลไกตามมาตรา 33 ของกฎบัตรสหประชาชาติ บทบาทการประสานงานของเลขาธิการสหประชาชาติ ตลอดจนแนวทางการทูตเชิงป้องกันของอาเซียนที่ยึดหลักฉันทามติ ซึ่งมีรากฐานจากสนธิสัญญาไมตรีและความร่วมมือในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (TAC) การประชุมอาเซียนว่าด้วยความร่วมมือด้านการเมืองและความมั่นคงในภูมิภาคเอเชีย-แปซิฟิก (ARF) การประชุมสุดยอดเอเชียตะวันออก (EAS) และกรอบการประชุมรัฐมนตรีกลาโหมอาเซียนกับรัฐมนตรีกลาโหมประเทศคู่เจรจา (ADMM-Plus) ว่าเป็นแบบอย่างของการสร้างความไว้เนื้อเชื่อใจและการบริหารจัดการข้อพิพาททั้งในภูมิภาคและระดับโลก

Thailand's Permanent Representative Addresses UN Security Council Open Debate on Peaceful Settlement of Disputes

On 23 July 2026, H.E. Mr. Cherdchai Chaivaivid, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations, delivered a statement at the Security Council Open Debate on the Peaceful Settlement of Disputes, convened in follow-up to resolution 2788 (2025).

The Ambassador underscored the urgency of prevention, dialogue and diplomacy at the height of interstate conflicts. He reaffirmed Thailand's support for the tools of Article 33 of the UN Charter, the good offices of the Secretary-General, and ASEAN's consensus-based approach to preventive diplomacy — anchored in the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC), the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), the East Asia Summit (EAS) and the ADMM-Plus — as models for building trust and managing disputes within the region and beyond.

The Ambassador also referred to the statement made by one Member State on the border situation, stressing bilateral dialogue and negotiation in good faith as well as depoliticizing issues at the international level as key to resolving differences between neighboring countries.

ไทยประกาศคำมั่นเพื่อบริจาคเงินแก่ UNRWA ประจำปี 2569 ยืนยันสนับสนุนผู้ลี้ภัยชาวปาเลสไตน์

เมื่อวันที่ 30 มิถุนายน 2569 นางปวรี ชูโต ชัยปฏิยุทธ อุปทูต คณะผู้แทนถาวรไทยประจำสหประชาชาติ ณ นครนิวยอร์ก ประกาศการสนับสนุนทางการเงินของประเทศไทยแก่สำนักงานบรรเทาทุกข์และจัดหางานของสหประชาชาติสำหรับผู้ลี้ภัยชาวปาเลสไตน์ในตะวันออกใกล้ (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East: UNRWA) โดยไทยตระหนักถึงบทบาทสำคัญของหน่วยงานในการให้ความช่วยเหลือผู้ลี้ภัยชาวปาเลสไตน์ ดังนี้
• ต่ออายุเงินอุดหนุนแบบหลายปี (multi-year pledge) จำนวน 200,000 ดอลลาร์สหรัฐ สำหรับปี 2570-2574
• สมทบเงินเพิ่มเติมจำนวน 50,000 ดอลลาร์สหรัฐ สำหรับความช่วยเหลือฉุกเฉิน (Flash Appeal) ประจำปี 2569

นอกจากการสนับสนุนทางการเงินแล้ว อุปทูตเน้นย้ำว่าประชาคมระหว่างประเทศต้องให้การสนับสนุนทางการเมือง เพื่อให้มั่นใจว่า UNRWA จะสามารถปฏิบัติหน้าที่ตามอาณัติได้อย่างเป็นอิสระ เป็นกลาง และปราศจากอุปสรรค "การสนับสนุน UNRWA ไม่ได้เป็นเพียงภารกิจที่จำเป็นทางมนุษยธรรมเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นการลงทุนในด้านศักดิ์ศรี ความมั่นคง และความหวัง สำหรับผู้ลี้ภัยชาวปาเลสไตน์หลายล้านคน"

Thailand reaffirms support for Palestinian refugees at 2026 UNRWA Pledging Conference

On 30 June 2026, Charge d’Affaires a.i. Pawaree Xuto Chaipatiyut announced Thailand’s new financial commitments to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), recognizing the Agency’s indispensable role in providing life-saving assistance to Palestinian refugees:
• A renewed multi-year pledge of $200,000 USD for 2027-2031
• An additional contribution of $50,000 USD for the Agency’s 2026 Flash Appeal.

Beyond financial contributions, Ambassador Pawaree emphasized that the international community must provide steadfast political backing to ensure UNRWA can carry out its mandate independently and impartially. "Supporting UNRWA is not only a humanitarian imperative, but also an investment in dignity, stability, and hope for millions of Palestine refugees."
