Upon Royal Command of His Majesty The King, Bhutan has contributed INR. 100 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund of Nepal in the wake of the devastating floods of 26 August, which resulted in the tragic loss of many lives and widespread damage.

The contribution is a gesture of solidarity and friendship with the Government and people of Nepal at this difficult time and reflects the warm and longstanding relations between Bhutan and
Nepal.

H.E. Maj. Gen. Vetsop Namgyel, Ambassador of Bhutan to Nepal, handed over the cheque to Dr. Surendra Thapa, Charge d' Affaires a.i. at the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi.

The Royal Government and people of Bhutan extend their deepest sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families and all those affected by the disaster. Bhutan stands in solidarity with the people of Nepal and conveys its sincere wishes for the swift recovery and rehabilitation of the affected communities.

The Kingdom of Bhutan and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan established diplomatic relations on 03 August 2026. The Joint Communiqué establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries was signed by Ambassador Tenzin R. Wangchuk, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bhutan to the United Nations, and H.E. Mr. Walid Khalid Obeidat, Permanent Representative of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the United Nations, in New York.

The establishment of diplomatic relations marks an important milestone in the relations between Bhutan and Jordan, and reflects the shared commitment to further strengthening friendship, cooperation, and mutual understanding.

During the signing ceremony, the two Permanent Representatives reflected on the goodwill and warm ties between the two Royal Families. They expressed the commitment of the two governments to further strengthening bilateral relations and advancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including through cooperation at the United Nations and other multilateral forums.

With the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Bhutan now maintains diplomatic relations with 62 countries and the European Union.

The Kingdom of Bhutan and Brunei Darussalam established diplomatic relations on 13 July 2026 through the signing of a Joint Communiqué by Ambassador Tenzin R. Wangchuk, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bhutan to the United Nations, and Ambassador Pengiran Hairani Pengiran Haji Tajuddin, Permanent Representative of Brunei Darussalam to the United Nations, on behalf of their respective Governments.

During the signing ceremony, the two Permanent Representatives reaffirmed the longstanding friendship, mutual respect, and shared aspirations between the Kingdom of Bhutan and Brunei Darussalam. They underscored the enduring goodwill between the two countries, rooted in common values, including their deep respect for the institution of the Monarchy.

The two sides expressed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations through enhanced cooperation in areas of mutual interest and to fostering closer ties between the peoples of the two countries. They also reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting international peace and security, sustainable development, and effective multilateral cooperation, guided by the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations.

With the establishment of diplomatic relations with Brunei Darussalam, the Kingdom of Bhutan now maintains diplomatic relations with 61 countries and the European Union.

Ambassador Tenzin R. Wangchuk presented his credentials to His Excellency Mr. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, on 08 July 2026 in Brasilia accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bhutan to Brazil .

During the ceremony, Kutshab conveyed the warm greetings of His Majesty The King, the Royal Government, and the people of Bhutan to the President and the people of Brazil. The President extended a warm welcome to Kutshab and conveyed his warm wishes to His Majesty The King of Bhutan, as well as to the Royal Government and the people of Bhutan.

While in Brazil, Kutshab Tenzin R. Wangchuk met with senior government officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil to discuss matters of mutual interest and to explore areas of cooperation to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

Bhutan and Brazil established diplomatic relations on 21 September 2009.

The Kingdom of Bhutan and the Principality of Monaco established diplomatic relations through the signing of a Joint Communiqué in New York on 8 June 2026.

The Joint Communiqué was signed by H.E. Ambassador Tenzin R. Wangchuk, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bhutan to the United Nations, and H.E. Ambassador Isabelle Picco, Permanent Representative of the Principality of Monaco to the United Nations, at the Permanent Mission of Monaco in New York.

Following the signing ceremony, the two Ambassadors expressed confidence that the establishment of diplomatic relations would further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Bhutan and Monaco. They also underscored the shared commitment of both countries to multilateralism, sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and international peace and cooperation.

The establishment of diplomatic relations marks an important step in advancing bilateral engagement and fostering collaboration in areas of mutual interest between the two countries.

With the establishment of diplomatic relations with Monaco, Bhutan now has diplomatic relations with 60 countries and the European Union.
