Our Story
World Association for Community Empowerment is a volunteer-driven nonprofit tax-exempt organization founded in 2000 to help empower low-income and immigrant communities and families to become self-sufficient through the provision of comprehensive array of services that install hope, understanding, self-respect, support, and self-love. Since incorporated, we have worked to develop, promote and support innovative educational environment where children and families have equal access to educational and vocational opportunities and all children are encouraged to reach their full potential. In addition, the organization promotes a network of resources and forums among service organizations to share information and discuss matters of relative interests and concerns regarding issues that affect the families we serve and collaborates, with other organizations, school community, local and state governments, religious organizations and the foundation community to continually improve opportunities and the quality of life for low-income families on Staten Island.
